fun fact: any policy on drugs that isnāt harm reduction is going to cause addicts to suffer and die
fun fact: Drug addiction is a public health issue, and approaching it as if it were a law enforcement issue is prejudicial to addicts and will result in their suffering and death
if you just assume addiction is a method of self-medicating, youāll pretty much never be wrong.
now, not everything people self-medicate for actually has a proper treatment. iām pretty sure the reason my uncle made sure to be slightly drunk at all times āto round the sharp corners off of thingsā was sensory processing disorder. i have that too, and i just kind of accept that iām going to randomly get my brain sandpapered from time to time. there is no medication for that. all you can do is dull your senses. iāve chosen not to, but i canāt blame him for his decisions. when a ringing phone feels like getting hit upside the head with a frying pan, liver damage sounds like a fair price to pay.
anyway, it seems really self-evident to me that people donāt enjoy living the life of an addict, they do it because the alternative looks worse. people donāt get addicted to substances just for funsies. they start making a habit of taking something because of insomnia, or grief, or headaches, or depression, or seething undirected rage and terror they canāt put a name to ā something that they canāt ignore or shrug off. and for whatever reason ā lack of access, lack of knowlege, lack of money, or it just plain doesnāt exist ā they arenāt able to apply the Approved Correct Remedy. they use what they can get.
addicts arenāt some weird otherfolk who inexplicably just Do Drugs because theyāre Bad. addicts are you with a problem you canāt solve.
these facts arenāt fun but they are pretty important

Republican columns about to explode.
"From Kevin G Shinnick:
āI made a comment recently where I claimed that Republican administrations had been much more criminally corrupt over the last 50 plus years than the Democrats. I was challenged (dared actually) to prove it. So I did a bit of
research and when I say a bit I mean it didnāt take long and there is no comparison.
When comparing criminal indictments of those serving in the executive branch of presidential administrations, itās so lopsided as to be ridiculous. Yet all I ever hear about is how supposedly ācorruptā the Democrats are. So why donāt we break it down by president and the numbers?
Obama (D) ā 8 yrs in office. Zero criminal indictments, zero convictions and zero prison sentences. So the next time somebody describes the Obama administration as āscandal freeā they arenāt speaking wishfully, theyāre simply telling the truth.
Bush, George W. (R) ā 8 yrs in office. 16 criminal indictments. 16 convictions. 9 prison sentences.
Clinton (D) ā 8 yrs in office. 2 criminal indictments. One conviction. One prison sentence. Thatās right nearly 8 yrs of investigations. Tens of millions spent and 30 yrs of claiming them the most corrupt ever
and there was exactly one person convicted of a crime.
Bush, George H. W. (R) ā 4 yrs in office. One indictment. One conviction. One prison sentence.
Reagan (R) ā 8 yrs in office. 26 criminal indictments. 16 convictions. 8 prison sentences.
Carter (D) ā 4 yrs in office. One indictment. Zero convictions and zero prison sentences.
Ford (R) ā 4 yrs in office. One indictment and one conviction. One prison sentence.
Nixon (R) ā 6 yrs in office. 76 criminal indictments. 55 convictions. 15 prison sentences.
Johnson (D) ā 5 yrs in office. Zero indictments. Zero convictions. Zero prison sentences.
So, letās see where that leaves us. In the last 53 years, Democrats have been in the Oval Office for 25 of those years, while Republicans held it for 28. In their 25 yrs in office Democrats had a total of three executive branch officials indicted with one conviction and one prison sentence. Thatās one whole executive branch official convicted
of a crime in two and a half decades of Democrat leadership.
In the 28 yrs that Republicans have held office over the last 53 yrs they have had a total of (a drum roll would be more than appropriate), 120 criminal indictments of executive branch officials. 89 criminal convictions and 34 prison sentences handed down. Thatās more prison sentences than years in office since 1968 for Republicans. If you want
to count articles of impeachment as indictments (they arenāt really but we can count them as an action), both sides get one more. However, Clinton wasnāt found guilty while Nixon resigned and was pardoned by
Ford (and a pardon carries with it a legal admission of guilt on the part of the pardoned). So those only serve to make Republicans look even worse.
With everything going on with Trump and his people right now, itās a safe bet Republicans are gonna be padding their numbers a bit real soon.
So letās just go over the numbers one more time, shall we? 120 indictments for Republicans. 89 convictions, and 34 prison sentences. Those arenāt āfeelingsā or āalternate facts.ā Those are simply the stats by the numbers. Republicans are, and have been for my entire lifetime, the most criminally corrupt party to hold the office of the presidency.
So those are the actual numbers. Feel free to copy and paste!ā

If you NEVER reblog a post make sure you REBLOG THIS POST.
Based on this why would ANYONE who is against corruption and criminal activity vote for any Republican?Ā And these stats are only for the executive branch.Ā Imagine what would be found if this included Congress.

Iāve been waiting all day for someone to make thisā¦
hey so uhhh hereās an important update on whatās apparently happening at the border, especially with the use of the old japanese internment camps
all i can say is iām sickened by this mess, by the atrocities committed against innocent people. and now there will be no surveillance. no one will be able to see what happens to these people. the UN, the media, and any other human rights organizations cannot get into these facilities, either, in order to stop whatās happening. by the way, coast guard members were apparently aiding in this process as well. so now itās only a matter of time before it becomes a military movement.
no one gets in. no one gets out.
so when are we going to call this what it is? itās fascism. itās genocide. and if we donāt stop it now, itās going to be disastrous.
contact your senators, your representatives, anyone thatās in office that can get off their lazy ass and do something.
can yāall please reblog this iām begging
Can you explain why we always get word from WH Melania and Ivanka convinced Trump not to do something? I donāt understand the relevance
It reinforces the idea that he is a king and not an executive bound by the rule of law. We are meant to understand that his natural masculine brutality may be tempered by the soft, merciful instincts of his women but not by public pressure or coequal branches of government or legal argument or normal moral standards. This is also why he loves the pardon power - it is a remnant of the traditional prerogative of English kings and can be exercised independently of the machinery of democratic governance. He wants everything that has happened to be perceived as an exciting emotional story of twists and turns with himself as hero, a story which takes place outside the institutional structures that would normally constrain presidential behavior. In this case he is obviously retreating to some extent, although the practical consequences of this afternoonās EO are unclear. However, staging that retreat as a gracious personal gesture toward a woman pleading for mercy displaces his personal defeat onto herā-she is the one who is weak, not him. Thus he consolidates his masculinity while reminding us that his power allows him to save or destroy lives on a whim.Ā
