I wish there were more books that didn't mean anything
Hear me out.
I LOVE reading. Scrolling through a particularly beefy fic while some ambient music drones in my ear is the closest thing to bliss I can experience
But I haven't been able to do hardly any reading in years. Why? Because I just don't have the emotional energy to handle the deep, heavy, borderline-pretentious topics that seem to plague literature as a whole. (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ComedyGhetto) The irony-poisoned opposite end of that scale is equally unappealing, but that's a whole other rant
Which is why I pretty much only read fanfics lately. It's the only literary space where I can find the sort of ambient, meaningless experience I need to wind down, y'know? But it just doesn't compare to having an actual paper-and-ink book in my hands (particularly because my phone's battery is hot garbo and thus imposes an annoying time limit on my reading)
I dunno, I wish there were more books (and better ways to discover new books) that matched Nichijou, Lucky Star, and Azumanga Daioh in terms of plotlessness and vibes. Like the words-only version of a casual slice of life manga, I guess
Not really looking for recommendations because I am flat broke and can't Acquire Book™ even if I wanted to, just felt like ranting into the void of the internet on a whim
