I wish there were more books that didn't mean anything

Hear me out.

I LOVE reading. Scrolling through a particularly beefy fic while some ambient music drones in my ear is the closest thing to bliss I can experience

But I haven't been able to do hardly any reading in years. Why? Because I just don't have the emotional energy to handle the deep, heavy, borderline-pretentious topics that seem to plague literature as a whole. Which is why I pretty much only read fanfics lately. It's the only literary space where I can find the sort of ambient, meaningless experience I need to wind down, y'know? But it just doesn't compare to having an actual paper-and-ink book in my hands (particularly because my phone's battery is hot garbo and thus imposes an annoying time limit on my reading)

I dunno, I wish there were more books (and better ways to discover new books) that matched Nichijou, Lucky Star, and Azumanga Daioh in terms of plotlessness and vibes. Like the words-only version of a casual slice of life manga, I guess

Not really looking for recommendations because I am flat broke and can't Acquire Book™ even if I wanted to, just felt like ranting into the void of the internet on a whim

im having a bit of a panic attack because of how much "trans people have it worse than ever" posts are on tumblr recently so i could use some reassurance or something please

trying to enjoy pride month but all I see is a million posts about how the internet is hostile to queers and how everybody's stuff is getting deleted and censored and frankly it's making me question whether it's worth it to be alive in this crapsack world

and no I do not consider "stay alive because otherwise they win" to be a good enough reason. I just want relief from this constant barrage and I'm not going to get it from being alive. the idea of having to fight just to exist makes me so unbelievably miserable it's almost pathological. i am not a fighter and I'm sick of being told that fighting is the only mode of existence available to queers.

it makes me so sad seeing people in my life who tell me they think they might be trans but they’re too scared to confront that reality because the transgender experience just seems to be filled with terror and misery. trans people please never stop talking about the joys of being transgender. please never stop talking about your excitement and joy and happiness. maybe you think that the trans experience is all doom and gloom, too. I promise it’s not. focus on the joy and you will feel better I promise.

somethin that makes me kinda sad is when a trans person says somethin really bad online and all the comments are like "this is why those disgusting fetishists shouldn't exist". like obviously being trans doesn't magically make you a good person, but it's like all they care about is finding a reason to prove their transphobia has merit, instead of judging individuals as individuals. it also makes my insecurities flare up because let's be real it's way easier to believe a few haters than a legion of allies, because the human brain is stupid and dumb and says stuff like "what if they're right and you are a horrible disgusting trash person"

hey so you know even if the trans girl doesn't pass you still have to use her pronouns right?

even if she doesn't "try to pass" she still deserves the same basic respect you give everybody else.

even if she's done something bad that doesn't excuse you misgendering her on purpose.

i'm so sick of people treating trans people's pronouns as some kind of reward you get if you've been a good tranny.

this goes for those who use neopronouns too i dont care how "weird" you think it is especially if you're trans yourself.
