god i just. man, this season was brilliant. i love that the purpose of this whole ride was to get to know lestat just as he is. an artist, a lover, a victim, a monster, a failure. the whole message of this season seems to be “no one can be normal about lestat, and lestat is incapable of being normal in return”, and it’s kind of crazy that it’s bleeding over into the fandom as well. he’s got his stans who think he can do no wrong, his overwrought haters who see him as a cartoonish villain, and people who want him to be what they see him as rather than who he is. the only person who sees him truly is, and will always be, louis. for better or worse, richer or poorer, headless or headstrong, it’s always been the two of them.

this is some of the most experimental and fascinating television i’ve ever seen, and i can’t wait to see where we go from here. whatever comes next, it’s going to be a hell of a ride.

the whole conceit of lestat being in this surreal dream-like state put on trial by the people in his life which is really his subconscious maybe possibly and then going on an imaginary stage and trying to perform his way out of this but the facade slowly falling away while being constantly reminded that he's dying is just perfectly engineered for my sensibilities that i can't help but love the finale

louis lying about armand being the love of his life in s1 finale and louis confessing with his dying breath that lestat was always the love of his life in s3 finale. lestat willingly giving in to death under louis's blade bc he's given up on receiving his love in s1 finale and lestat clinging to life in his final minutes by the mere idea that louis might love him after all in s3 finale.

i like how when lestat took over his own dying hallucination morality trial he just kept assuring everyone they “have a really great show planned for you tonight” and then didn’t deliver. just rambled about how he is, in fact, a massive failure and a loser but hey at least he tried lmao
