Don’t have any particularly smart or super informed takes on this but I know I really don’t like it. I am vehemently against fatphobia and am in recovery from a restrictive eating disorder and learning about fat liberation/unlearning fatphobia has played a huge part in my recovery, so i have a lot of really strong feelings about that. It’s infuriating to me when other people in general but especially other queer people complain about weight gain and are vocal about engaging in their eating disorders or diet culture with no interest in dissecting their internalized fatphobia/misogyny etc or challenging those beliefs. + while I think romanticizing it probably isn’t good I don’t assign moral weight to addiction or drug use but tbh nobody participating in the resurgence of heroin chic is shooting heroin anyway. I think there are probably a lot of reasons that this is happening but y’know fatphobia specifically isn’t new and is so deeply ingrained in western culture so the fact that even culturally subversive groups are regressing on that is probably related to the overall cultural decline and descent into #fascism, like how everybody hates sex and porn and jerking off now for some reason (puritanism). Could be also a reaction to the health guru yoga enlightenment all natural beef tallow RFK influencer bullshit. Would love to hear your thoughts as well
