no because. the schumacher surname makes you motorsports royalty and whether you like him or not everyone knows who ralf is and he came out, and it's so so important. because this is a sport that loves surface level activism but won't go any deeper and now we have a SCHUMACHER who is out and proud and in your face. and no one can deny it. someone who raced on the grid, who knows exactly how hard it is. and you have to applaud the bravery regardless of what you think of him. and i hope that if there's anyone else on the grid, in the sport, who is also queer, that they see this, and they know they're not alone.

just as a note for the non-german people on my dash posting about ralf, i need you to understand that he isn't a "oh he's just an annoying dick" kind of person. he has openly made comments live on air against the BLM movement, constantly complains about political correctness, has made sexist comments about female drivers and female celebrities, has called it a "disgrace" that someone voiced allegations against christian horner, and makes borderline racist and disrespectful jokes nearly every race.

it's good that we support his coming out, but be aware of what kind of person he is.

regardless of your opinions on Ralf Schumacher, whether you like him or not, him coming out is an extremely brave thing, in such a predominantly heterosexual sport. this is a huge thing and it may help other people in motorsports to accept themselves and to feel like they don't have to hide their true self. please be kind and supportive <3
