Finally
"That..sucks."
"How does that suck? Sounds like a good time to me."
Finally
"You’re such a grump. I’ll swing by your place with some hangover cures then."
"Hey I'm not a grump. I'm just an asshole when I'm hungover. Only saving you to worry. But sure, just don't be surprised if I'm not alone."
Finally
"Lucky you. I have a long shift tomorrow, but it’s not too bad. You should come by."
"You realize I'll be drinking all night? Not so sure the sounds of a bowling alley is a good way to cure that."
Dana couldn't help but snort. In all honesty, she wasn't even sure she was ready to do this with him and forget the years the had together. But he seemed insistent. Maybe they just were better this way and as nothing else. She downed the shot instantly, only wincing for a moment before looking to him. "One more...just to prove to you I'm no light weight."
James watched her carefully from the corner of his eyes. It was hard to not be drawn to her, he always had been. But this was probably not the best idea in helping them move on. But yet he still ordered two more shots, "You better be careful. If I hear you called in tomorrow I'll have to do the right thing and turn you in," he gave her a wink before downing his next shot.
Finally
"And what constitutes as the right company? Yes it has. And you still look the same. But it’s Dr. Sommers now."
"Possibly pretty ladies that used to give me lap dances at least once a week," he winked, "Yes. Doctor. Didn't think you could get any hotter, but I was wrong."
Finally
"Drinking alone? Not the James I remember. Are you like fine aged scotch?"
"Just waiting for the right company. Even better, doll. It's been several years though. We're big kids now with big kid jobs."
Finally
"That sounds like….not a lot of fun. Have you lost your touch? Do I have to remind you?"
"Sounds like fun to me. My touch? It's only gotten better with age, beautiful."
Finally
"And what do you plan to do to fill all that free time?"
"Drink till I can't function, pretty much."
Finally
Dana nearly gritted her teeth as he began laughing. She pulled the shot glass to her right away. ”Straight…no lemon…no salt. And trust me… I can hold my liquor a hell of a lot better than Cancun…I don’t give out free shows anymore.” Her lip twitched into a slight smirk as she lifted up the glass. ”To a whole day without your ugly mug around…”
"No free shows?" James gave a mock pout as he lifted his glass and clinked it to hers, "Shame, you're quiet the dancer Miss Snow," he gave her a wink before downing his shot.
Finally
She narrowed her eyes in his direction, taking a few cautious steps toward the counter. ”You’re such a dick, ya know that?” She rolled her eyes and held out her hand. ”One shot…before i go out with my friends and have even more shots without your presence…”
James laughed, "But I'm a good looking one," he motioned the bartender over, order two tequila shots and looking over at her, "Maybe I'll get a repeat of Cancun. Think these chair are sturdy enough for your dancing?"
Finally
"You…ugh! I can too hold my liquor, thank you very much! I just never did it that much around you because I always had to watch your drunk ass! And I do have fun…I live life…enjoy myself."
"You're full of shit," he laughed, leaning back in the bar stool, "Fine. Have a shot with me then you can go home to that cat or yours and watch Lifetime till you fall asleep."
Finally
"Been there…done that. Sorry, don’t want to go for a second round. Sometimes I do go out after work…not that that is any of your business…, Captain.”
"Hey you go have fun. We deserve it in this line of work. You afraid I'll drink you under the table, as usual? At least your brother can hold his booze."
Finally
"O…k. You missed the complete point of my ‘what the hell are you doing’. So…let me re-phrase, what are you doing that you can’t do on the clock, besides stay up which you normally do on the clock anyway…"
"I think that is none of your business. That is unless you wanna join me...oh wait. You have to work tomorrow. Wouldn't want to keep you out too late."
Finally
"Ok….seriously? And what the hell are you going to do if you don’t sleep?"
"A whole lot of shit I can't do while I'm on the clock."
Finally
"A day off tomorrow and I have zero plans of sleeping any time soon."
Worst part of the job...
Dana looked away, pursing her lips slightly as she looked down at the form she had been filling out. ”You seem to be saying that almost every day now…” She braced a glance up at him once more, a small bit of concern edged upon her face. ”What’s gotten into you today? What the hell happened?”
"Have I, I didn't notice," the words were a kind of muttered, the man looking out the window of his office. The view wasn't all that great but there was a next on the ledge across the way he always found himself watching, "Parents of young one's aren't my favorite yet I've done three in the last two weeks. Guess it's just got me on edge."
Worst part of the job...
"Do you need me to be geared up? Or are we just visiting the neighbors?"
"We'll be off the clock, but I think you know to keep an eye out and I'll do the same. Plus that bartender of there's is always a joy to talk to."
