LONDONāAn early review confirmed Wednesday that upcoming historical drama The Sisters Of Darington Manor was just 90 minutes of a woman holding up her petticoats while scampering through an open field. āAfter the opening credits roll, itās really just an hour and a half of a woman in a silk gown grabbing the hems of her petticoat while she hurries along a windswept plain,ā said The Independent reviewer Christina Gordon, confirming that the costume dramaāwhich offers no discernible dialogue and could take place at any point in history between the Georgian and Victorian erasāfeatures a striking string soundtrack that swells to accentuate the womanās progress across what appears to be either the English heath or possibly the Scottish moorland. āAbout midway through the movie, thereās this 45-minute unbroken shot of her rushing in front of a misty hillside. Then she mounts a horse at one point and rides it for a few minutes, which was nice. But then she just gets off, hitches up her petticoat, and starts hurrying across the plain again.ā While criticizing the filmās lackluster narrative, Gordon praised the ābreathtaking finale,ā in which the woman completes her 90-minute journey by rushing directly into the embrace of a troubled-looking but handsome man in a brown frock coat and cravat.
i talk a lot of shit for someone who canāt choose rude dialogue options in games because iām scared of hurting a characters feelings
I fucking knew this was about On the Road three screen caps in
Teenage girls defending each other while shit talking male writers is my entire fucking ethos.Ā

This photo is from the Instagram feed of Hannah Queen, author of Honey and Jam, a beautiful cookbook. I love her photography in part because of she picks subjects that speak to my soul like this one of making biscuits that immediately makes me think of my beloved Mamaw. If you like baking, books, Appalachia, or photography, then definitely follow her on Instagram.

A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. A library is a good place to go when you feel bewildered or undecided, for there, in a book, you may have your question answered. Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people ā people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.

Dear Romance Deities:
BLESS Diana Palmer and her May-December romances.
Like seriously.Ā Her books are probably some of the more problematic that I read. But I regret NOTHING.
(I mean she HAS been writing for decades, long before what we might call the Romance Reformation - @msfehrwight, are we at the point of having eraās yet, do you think?)
So bring on the age-gap and size-difference romances, Palmer. Bring on the grumpy, I-know-better-than-you-Sugar Cowboys and the naive but determined, down-home Heroines.Ā
Bring it on, and bring me a spoon to eat it up with.
All that Pastoral goodness.
Yes.
This has been a tribute to Diana Palmer.
I was so happy to see this because I will forever and always love Diana Palmer. I donāt think she was the author of the first romance I ever read, but she definitely wrote the first romance I remember reading (Calhoun!), and I still look forward to her releases.Ā
