A small rule, a couple small rules, get slipped by disobeyed, not done, ignored.
It’s discovered in touches, in ease of injury that stretching hasn’t been a priority, that flexibility for Him hasn’t been on my mind.
“Am I not worth the two minutes a day it takes to do your stretching routine?”
“Should I need to ask you every day if you’ve done each requirement for me?”
“It’s not a big thing, but several little things. I’m not sure whether I should be upset that you haven’t been doing them, that I haven’t asked if you were doing then, or because I feel like at this point I shouldn’t have to ask if you’re doing them.”
The little things, if not asked about, if not brought up, can so easily go into the void. But the little things, the effort in the details? They’re really big things. Without them, I’m a half-assed slave. The mediocre girl He mentions in this message to me.
I’m not meant to be mediocre to Him. I’m meant to be outstanding. He deserves no less.
Daddy reads me bedtime stories from Brothers Grimm quite often…and I love them!
In the rare occasion that I am traveling during her bedtime (like tonight - fml), she gets a bedtime story every night. For times like tonight, I have stories prerecorded for her to listen to.

Previously we have spoken on the subject of sub drop, how to deal with it, and what it really is and how it affects your little. But did you know that there is also something called Dom drop or daddy drop as well… And it is quite a serious thing.
Daddy drop is a lot like sub drop in which the daddy can also have irrational feelings of depression, irritation, anger, worthlessness and other related impacts to his mental and emotional state after an intense session… Play time… Or punishment.
So let’s have a small walk through and examine exactly why this might occur… And how it can be fought against.
A mans natural instinct
The first thing to understand about daddy is that he is full of Pride… Good Pride as well as bad Pride. The way in which you react to him in certain situations shapes and curves that Pride back and forth. He sees himself as the pillar of your strength and security, so it’s very important to him to know that he did a great job in whatever it is that he did…. from playtime to feeding you to simply telling you a story.
Believe it or not, he is not always so sure of himself… Believe it or not he struggles with whether or not he did a good job for you just as much as you do for him, little one. So… in likewise fashion, he needs proper affirmation, building up, and confidence boosts as well.
He can be impacted in many ways from the activity that he engages in with you… And as such, it is your job as his little to help him to fight against these feelings. One of the biggest things that your daddy struggles with is punishing you.
Quite simply, he just does not want to do it. But unfortunately it is a necessity at times in order to help you grow and become better than you were the day before… Which really should be his ultimate Mission; Building you up, helping you grow, and seeing you turn into a beautiful butterfly from the cocoon that you started in.
The times after a punishment can be some of the worst for him mentally and emotionally…Did I hurt her too much? Did I satisfy the punishment? Did she get enough? Was it too much? Does she hate me for what I did? Did I do it properly? Does she understand why she had to be punished? Did I make myself clear? Why did she break her rules? Does she not love me? Does she not want to obey me because she hates me? I hate making her cry…
These are all things that run through his head….just like they do yours.
A daddy who does not have a properly built confidence will suffer these things each and every time that you have a session together. And if you’re purposely bratty and do things in effort to get his attention…. You may actually be hurting the relationship.
So then what do you do?
Littles: put yourself in Daddy’s shoes and imagine how he is feeling. Then you can start the process of giving him proper affirmation and helping him to know that he did a good job. Give him a back rub, say kind and affirming words, tell him how much it means to you that he did what he did, let him know that he did a great job overall… And then when you have your discussion time outside of play time and everything else you can talk about any questions and concerns and work things out.
a little is her daddies stuffie
It’s okay to treat Daddy like a little sometimes and do things for him that are out of the ordinary… Because believe it or not sometimes he actually cries. Sometimes she actually gets down on himself. Give him a bath… Make him a meal… Brush his beard or his hair… Iron his shirts… Do whatever you have to do to properly activate aftercare after the session just the same way that he should you. This goes for punishments, playtime, really anything outside of a vanilla interaction.
And you can always bring it up again a few days later… “You know when we did this the other day, that was really nice and you did this and that greatly and I really enjoyed it”… And so on.
Daddies: be naturally confident in your abilities. Your little gave you the gift of her submission for a reason… Because she sees you above all others. She sees you as a great Pillar of Strength and security. She sees you as the person who can ultimately give her the best care in the world… Therefore she has full confidence and trust in you. There’s no shame in asking for help and taking criticism.
the conference table
Set aside a time once a week where you can activate a safe zone that she can say whatever she wants in order to help you. Have her give you a weekly review of how you did that week, the good the bad… The pros and cons… Ask her where you can improve and what areas need to be worked on.
Take all of this criticism with absolute positivity and show her that it’s ok for her to speak up. You’ll be amazed at how much closer it brings you together. Implementing these simple methods on both sides will add great success and growth to your relationship and bring closeness like you’ve never seen

How a Submissive Leads
A good submissive is often a wonderful leader. It may seem paradoxical. After all, aren’t submissives supposed to follow? The caricature of submissives is a little mouse, quiet except for “yes, Sir” and “thank you, Sir.” But submissives lead in a great many ways.
Submissives lead by example. They lead by showing up every day and honoring their commitment to the dynamic. They lead by showing their Dominant that obedience and service are for always, not just when it’s easy. It takes a lot of strength to kneel when you are tired, when you are emotionally struggling, when your confidence is shaken. It is easier to withdraw or to take back control, rather than trusting someone else with it. When submissives choose their submission over and over again, this shows faith in a vision for what the dynamic should be. It shows courage and resolve. And with this leadership, submissives inspire leadership in their Dominants with their unrelenting need to follow.
Submissives lead by providing their Dominants opportunities to lead. Sometimes submissives sense that their Dominants need a reminder that they hold the leash. When they are stressed or feeling unsure, sometimes they need to feel their partners’ submission. That connection sustains both sides of the slash. Submissives lead by recognizing when their Dominant needs to connect through power exchange and offering an opportunity to lead. They ask permission. They ask their Dominant to choose for them. They kneel with their Dominant’s favorite implement in hand. But it is up to the submissive sometimes to see the need and act on it.
Submissives lead by helping their Dominants understand their needs. This is not topping from the bottom; it is giving Dominants all the information they need to care for their property. Imagine the Dominant is blindfolded, walking a path with their submissive. The Dominant knows where they want to go. They know if they head directly west, they will reach the most perfect little town. But the submissive can see that heading directly west will send them through swamps and rocky terrain. The submissive leads by being the Dominant’s eyes—explaining the obstacles and allowing the Dominant to find a different course that will reach the destination. This is not the same as telling the Dominant where to go, just as sharing your needs is not topping from the bottom.
Once in a D/s relationship, I was struggling with a lack of spankings. I tried telling him I needed a spanking. He’d nod, and then the next time, he’d throw me down and treat me roughly. He made sure I felt owned. But I still needed a spanking. Finally, I laid it out for him. “When I say I need a spanking, I don’t mean I need kink. I don’t mean that we’ve gone too vanilla. I don’t mean that I need you to hurt me. I mean that I need a spanking, and nothing else will do.” This felt decidedly unsubmissive to me. But through his response, I realized that this kind of guidance was the most submissive thing I could do. I showed him how to lead us. Without my leadership, he could not lead.
Submissives lead by serving as a beacon of light. As a submissive, I light the path, and my Dominant leads us down it. I do not decide. But I may shine a light on a decision to be made, so my Dominant can decide. Without a submissive’s leadership, their Dominant is just wandering in the dark. It’s not just that submissives do lead; it’s that they must lead at times for the dynamic to be successful.
“If my Master is lost, I’ll find him. I’ll lead him back to himself, because to serve doesn’t always mean to follow.” ―Joey W. Hill
When It’s Hard
Several months ago, I felt like I was drowning. I was on a steep learning curve at a new job where I felt completely lost, and I was rebuilding my personal life on several levels. Every little decision felt heavy. But I kept trudging through, hoping one day the struggle would end.
In the midst of this, my Dominant gave me a daily task. It felt nearly impossible some days. I’d get my daughter in bed and think about the task. I’d watch the minutes tick away before bedtime and try to summon up the energy to complete it. Once I completed it, I felt better. Proud. Accomplished. Connected to him. But before doing it, all I could feel was the exhaustion.
One night I asked permission to skip the task. My boss had completely scrapped my work product—a new experience for this perfectionist overachiever who was used to things coming easily. Suddenly, I felt incompetent. Then my daughter, sensing my stress, argued with me all night. It was all I could do to get her in bed before I collapsed in tears.
So I asked permission to skip the task. And he said no. I was furious. I told him if he loved me, he wouldn’t make me follow through. He calmly told me that he wanted me to follow through because he loved me. I called him selfish and insensitive. I refused to do it. He reminded me that I always have a choice: complete the task or accept punishment.
I sat for about 20 minutes, just staring at the wall. I felt empty. I reached inside and felt nothing. No energy, no worth. Just nothing. And then I got up, and I completed my task. I didn’t do it to avoid the belt; when I initially refused, I knew I’d take the belt for it. But the idea of intentionally disobeying him…that was too much to bear. I couldn’t. So I took my nothingness and made it something. I made it into service.
A few days later when the clouds had cleared, we talked about it. “You know I couldn’t let you off the hook,” he said. “You know it would have been the worst thing for you. It would have left you feeling alone and untethered.” He was right. There were other times when he did give me permission to skip the task, but that night it would have made everything worse. I was so grateful that he held the leash tight in that moment. He reached out to me in my darkness, and he didn’t let go. And neither did I.
I thanked him for the opportunity to submit. Then he said four words that made my heart swell. “I knew you would.”
It’s easy to submit when you have all the time and energy to devote yourself to it. But it’s much harder to submit when everything is going wrong. Dominance and submission aren’t just for when it’s easy. Many people are capable of putting on the role for short bursts. Months, even. But the moment it gets hard, they toss it aside. And they wait for a more convenient time to pick it back up again. It’s not about whether you can play the role; it’s about whether you are the role. Anything less is just D/s dress-up.
A deep D/s connection is about where you find your sanctuary. It’s about what feeds your soul. It’s about what replenishes you when you are stressed or sad or lost or returning home from battle to lick your wounds. If you can only give or take control when it’s easy, then it’s never going to be real or sustainable. You can’t build a relationship on that. But if you ache for D/s all the way down to your bones, then you show up no matter what. You follow through when it’s hard. You meet your partner’s needs, and in doing so, you meet your own. The dynamic can be so powerful that way. Especially when it’s hard.
