“No harm done.” Kora spoke bluntly, she hadn’t been upset by his reactions to the earlier cnversation topic, in fact it made for an excellent moment to judge his character.
“Hmm… We believe you should have the opportunity to name this nameless blend. After all you have drank as much as we have.” She decided abruptly causing a nearby server to dash for the management.
@brazen-alatreon
He’d sigh softly. “I see, that is fair. Anyway… as for the blend name…” He’d think for a time, his hand reaching towards his chin as he’d scratch at it slightly. Unsure of what to call it. “Hmm… well this blend… due to it’s effects…” He thought further about how it was a heat orientated and led to smoke being exhaled from both him and her. “I’d think of something like the smokefall blend.” He’d suggest casually as he’d settle down for the time being, rubbing at his head softly further. “But… that may be too bombastic.” He’d seem to be in deeper thought now as his mind quickly wandered to the new topic. “What do you think?” @korvusandco
“Smokefall? That is a most fitting name.” Kora nodded in approval, as Mother Mosume returned.
“Hello dearies. Apologies, I take it Edmond has been most helpful?” She spoke using that large motherly tone to announce her arrival.
“Ah there you are. It appears you have sorted out the queue.” Kora chuckled lightly, “We believe Gwyn here has a name for your unnamed blend.”
“Really, oh excellent.”
@brazen-alatreon
Gwyn shifted a little uncomfortably for a moment as he hadn’t expected to be thrust into having to speak about that right away. “Ah yes, I was believing it could be called Smokefall.” He’d say with a soft smile and quickly added on. “Edmond was also really helpful.” He’d say with a smile as he’d seem to be quite pleased with the service. However he didn’t seem to know much of what to say or add onto that.
@korvusandco
“Smokefall? My why I would haver have come up wth a clever name like that.” Mosume was stunned, it was such a simple yet well fitting name for the blend.
“You have my thanks good sir, we have had that blend for a while and we have been struggling to come up with a good name for it, and I am glad Edmond was of good help to you. Now if you will excuse me, I will have to start adding the blend to our menus. Oh happy days.” She spoke exctedly and over enthusiatically, so much so that it caused Kora to giggle in amusement.
“We must say, you do seem to have made her day Gwyn.” She praised in a soft tone as a fresh pot of Smokefall was brought to them.
@brazen-alatreon
Gwyn was quiet for a moment and looking mildly surprised as he sort of was surprised on the matter, and didn’t exactly know how to respond to the praise from Mosume. “Well... no problem?” He’d say sheepishly after a moment as he’d then look to the giggling Kora, and was admittedly more prepared for this bit of praise. “I... I suppose I have, didn’t expect the name to be taken too so well.” He’d look at the new pot brought to them and smiled softly after a moment. “I suppose we can celebrate it having a name now though?” He’d say with a playful tone, referring to the new pot brought to them.

Gwyn perked up a bit, surprised that Kora didn’t share the name herself and decided to speak both on Edmond and the blend name. “Edmond was great, as for the blend we were drinking I was thinking that it could be called Smokefall, due to the effect’s I’ve witnessed with smoke coming from me and Kora.” He’d let out a short chuckle, even manage to puff out a little ring of smoke from his nose. “I hope such a name is not too bombastic or aggressive sounding for the blend.”

“Next up is the latest addition to the list. It has an almost earthy taste when drunk slowly, but if drunk rapidly has a heat to it that is supposedly similar to the lava that flows through the cities lower viaducts. It currently has no name and we are accepting recommendations for on how to improve it. ” Edmond informed them as he swapped out their old cups for fresh clean ones and pouring their next sample.
“Hmm we care not about which topic. In fact we wonder if you had any questions Gywn.” Kora spoke before taking a few quick sips of her drink, discovering for herself what their waiter meant as the heat rose up quickly from within causing small clouds of black smoke to slowly escape as she breathe.
@brazen-alatreon
He sipped his cautiously at first, he had taken the waiter rather seriously, and he watched her and smiled a little childishly. He’d lower it for a moment to both think and answer. “Well, I suppose I am curious as to what the World was long ago, I am intrigued by the history of the World… and how things have changed. Would you say modern Alatreon for example are different to the Alatreon of your time, if they even existed.” He would finish by taking a bit more of considerable sip, and blowing thin wisps of black smoke out through his nose as he felt the heat internally rising, definitely a good drink he thought. @korvusandco
“Of all we have witnessed from days olde to days new. Alatreon have changed the least. They are the same embodiment of chaos now as they were back in the day. Though they were once much smaller beings.” She mused thinking back to her younger days taking a large sip enjoying the heat rise, making various shapes out of black smoke.
“Much, much smaller. But as for one to have changed drastically over time the Raths, originally they had a shorter maw and their feet were not quite right for what was needed and their wings spans were far too small. It amazes us they didn’t die out.” She spoke up, she was genuinely impressed by the resiliance of the Rath line.
@brazen-alatreon
“Well I am exceptionally sized for an Alatreon, though I assume you’ve seen others than I haven’t you?” He’d breath out softly. “And regardless that does sound like a big change… I’m impressed I suppose.” He’d grin a little, as he took a pretty considerable sip again. Once more blowing the black smoke out, he clearly liked it. “Are there any new species that didn’t exist back during your time? Are there any that you suspect have died out?” He’d ask, an increasing curiosity surging over the elder as he barraged Kora with more questions. He definitely had a light of youth in his eyes despite his own age.
“New species? Hmm Barioth, Zamatrios, any tundra species that are around today. The ice had not formed when we were young so there were no such needs for that sort of adaption.” She answered as she poured herself another cup of the blend they were both clearly enjoying.
“There was once a species of Deviljho, remarkably calm compred to the ones we see these days. We believe this branch to have died out. Unable to contend with their more aggressive cousins.” She mused, finding Gywns interest refreshing
@brazen-alatreon
“Tundra species hmm?” He’d pause for a time as he’d think further. “I find it hard to believe there was no ice in the far north or far south true be told.” He’d try and get another cup himself as well. This blend was definitely one to use while discussing things with others, it made him feel more passionate.
“Calm deviljho? Now I’ve heard everything.” He’d cackle quietly to himself, shifting about a bit as he thought further. “So, what do you think most of the tundra species came from in particular then? I’d have to say I can see some resemblances between them and others but can’t tell if they evolved from them or came from a single common ancestor.”
@korvusandco
“The world cooled quite rapidly once the fire mountains stopped spewing the worlds blood. Those who weren’t hardy enough retreated deep below the fire mountains, whilst many stayed on the surface. It would not surprise us if there were those that remained whilst the poles froze and adapted to the harshness of the ice.” Kora spoke she remembered the great cooling well but never got to witness the frozen era. She took a long sip of her freshly poured drink, savouring it. even going as far as requesting another pot once she realised hers had run dry.
“There are natural adaptions in any eco system that most species will have in some form or another. But if we were to hazard a guess we would say they came from those that adapted originally, rather than from a singular common ancestor.
@brazen-alatreon
“Hmm… so the world was far hotter than it is now?” He’d rub at his chin as he leaned forward while thinking about all the implications. World’s blood was certainly magma. “And it’s surprising how well some can adapt in a short time.” He’d respond with, as he’d sit up a bit more, before he eventually leaned back into his seat. “I suppose that makes sense too, if it were a common ancestor at least some of the ones that are similar would have… not occurred I suppose?” He’d sigh softly. “Anyway, with any luck there won’t be any incredibly large changes in my life time beyond this point, I saw enough of one when I was young.” He’d seem a bit more bitter saying that. “Ancient War definitely caused far too many good futures to be snuffed out..”
@korvusandco
“We have heard about this war. Though we missed it. We find too many brat child still live as though the war was yesterday. Still screaming for vengeance unable to acept the outcome and the new found balance.” There was an almost venom in her voice and an obvious lack of patience, when it came to speaking about a war she missed and those unwilling to move on.
“Wars happen, the “good old days” were never as good as one remembers them to be. We find the circustances of todays world far more pleasing to our youth.” She sighed stirring her cup in lost thought.
“We saw when the small bipeds worshipped us as gods, to put it in their terms. It was boring. That fear whenever a monster would walk by their cave dwellings. It was all so very dull. The intelligence they so clearly had, muted and hidden away.”
@brazen-alatreon
He’d narrow his eyes slightly at her venom and bit back so to speak. “I best hope you do not view me as one of those brat children.” He would be looking at her with a somewhat stern look in a sense, he after all appeared to have moved on, and not be held up on it. He more had only said he didn’t enjoy the war and the loss of life it caused. “I’m aware wars happen, but it doesn’t mean I am required to enjoy taking part in them or the amount of life lost is fine.” He’d seem irritated regardless while speaking back to her. It was a bit of a shame this visit seems to have potentially taken a more sour turn, though maybe it was still quite recoverable for the time being. Considering that really he wasn’t one that thought old times were better, but more just didn’t like the actual war. He’d just sink back into his chair for a time, hoping there’d not be any major irritation… or conflict. @korvusandco
“You are not trapped in past as we can tell, nor do you seem trapped in the past. We would not consider you a brat child.” She speaks seemingly nonplussed about the sudden change in atmosphere.
She huffed making smoke rings as her lower hands formed and molded some of the same crystal the statues throughout the city were made of.
He’d take a deep breath and breathed out a thin icy mist for a moment. “Okay.” That did make him a bit more tense but also did leave him non-hostile for the time being. His eyes would look to what she was doing as well, though he didn’t seem to have any words to exchange with her. If only for now. “I hope one of these brews can help relieve this tension…” He’d end up saying very quietly to himself.
As she worked her lower hands idly, the crystal seemed to grow, and change to her gentle shaping touch. She could not feel any tension in the air as she drank her tea and blew clouds of black smoke.
This went on for a few minutes until she drained what was left in a single mouthfull, her throat glowed as the heat and smoke rose up, yet she did not release it yet.
Instead she brought up the crystal she had been toying with cupped in all four hands and blew a steady stream of the black smoke onto the object in her grasp. The clouds billowed downward after making contact with the crystal, as though suddenly they were heavier than air and began to pool at the base of her seat.
She only stopped when the smoke stopped, the blue of her second iris’ glowing brightly as she smiled at he work. Placing a hand on the table she revealed a small statue of Gwyn made of crystal, the black smoke swirling within as if it was alive.
“A gift. For stengthening a future friendship.”
@brazen-alatreon
The dragon seemed to remain tense, having finished his tea before her. And having fallen quite silent for a time as he let her do whatever it was she was doing. It was when she breathed out the smoke that he seemed to take note of it. He could tell it wasn’t an attack yet the dragon remained at least a little tense at this moment in time, till he saw the result. His eyes widened slightly and his expression softened as he looked over it, the crystal work and the swirling smoke having made him take note of it. “...That is very well made.” He’d look back to her, his eyes softer as well now as if he were apologizing. “...Thank you, I’ll have to return the favor for when I next visit won’t I?” His implication was simple, that he’d bring something of her next time. Hopefully of similar quality. He took a more relaxed breath. “Apologies for my... abrupt anger in response to earlier.” Calling it anger was a bit of a stretch, but he referred to it as such anyway. @korvusandco

@brazen-alatreon
He’d just sink back into his chair for a time, hoping there’d not be any major irritation... or conflict. @korvusandco

@brazen-alatreon
@brazen-alatreon
@brazen-alatreon
@korvusandco
@brazen-alatreon
“Hmm... so the world was far hotter than it is now?” He’d rub at his chin as he leaned forward while thinking about all the implications. World’s blood was certainly magma. “And it’s surprising how well some can adapt in a short time.” He’d respond with, as he’d sit up a bit more, before he eventually leaned back into his seat. “I suppose that makes sense too, if it were a common ancestor at least some of the ones that are similar would have... not occurred I suppose?” He’d sigh softly. “Anyway, with any luck there won’t be any incredibly large changes in my life time beyond this point, I saw enough of one when I was young.” He’d seem a bit more bitter saying that. “Ancient War definitely caused far too many good futures to be snuffed out..”

Safi let out a soft trill, continuing to press against Gwyn. Maybe Gwyn was too tired to heal themselves now. Well, there was always time to try again later.
The word ‘rest’ stuck in Safi’s mind for a bit. It…. seemed familiar enough. Was this like ‘sleep’? They knew about sleep. Sleep would probably be good for Gwyn, especially in his injured state. So, curling around Gwyn as best they could, Safi rested their head on Gwyn’s back, peering over them to get a good view of the cavern entrance. Rumbling a soft purr, Safi tried to make Gwyn as comfortable as they could.
“Reeesstttt” they cooed, nestling down and preparing to keep an eye out for any odd threats that decided to enter the area.
With that said, he’d smile slightly at them speaking once more. It was oddly comforting, and gave him a somewhat optimistic feeling towards the future. “Rest.” He’d repeat back and closed his eyes as he rested his head against the ground, a gentle wiggle as he got his entire body as comfortable as it could. Which wasn’t very considering the massive wound but hey, he’d take any degree of comfort he could find. He’d still be having his entire body heaving and shifting with each breath even in his sleep. It was clear that the closing of his eyes was not being dead. Surely Safi should make the link. Not that Gwyn was concerned for that anymore as he drifted off into a realm of dreams.

true-sapphire-star Safi nudged back against Gwyn’s head, keening softly as they tried to figure out what to do. Though the other elder had formed a large mass of ice over the wound, it didn’t seem like it was helping much. So Safi set to thinking while gently licking at the wound, trying to clean the areas that weren’t so frozen over with ice.
Granted, the Ice thing wasn’t something Safi had experienced before. Could they do that? Maybe it would be worth experimenting later, but right now they had to focus. The smell of seared flesh still emanated around the cavern, clouding Safi’s head with hints of red paranoia. So they nudged Gwyn one more time before pacing around the cavern restlessly, using their wings to try to push the soiled air out of the room.
Ah, much better. Now the air was much cleaner, and they could actually think. Safi knew that they could regenerate by pulling from the everstream… Maybe they could teach Gwyn how?
Safi issued a sharp trill towards Gwyn, attempting to grab the Alatreon’s attention. Carefully bringing a forearm into their mouth, they bit down on the scales, wincing as the force of their own jaws started to split and crack the scales. Before any true harm was done, Safi removed their arm and showed the harmed state to Gwyn, turning it over slightly. Then, they pressed the wounded hand to the ground and focused, beginning to draw the everstream’s energy into the wounds.
It…. Certainly burned. The everstream was a vast power, and even with their new body it was still ever so strong, sending a numbing heat through their entire body. As the wounds started to sear the scales shut, mending and bridging the gaps that Safi had created, the energy continued to wash through Safi’s entire body, etching faint constellations into their wing’s webbing.
Satisfied at the healing, they showed the formerly wounded arm to Gwyn again, before returning to the elder’s side and gently pressing against them, warbling a soft trill of encouragement. Seems that they wanted Gwyn to try the healing method they just demonstrated.
The licking took Gwyn off guard, though not enough to recoil. It was a... unusual sensation for him, it both hurt yet tickled at the same time and thus sort of made him shudder overall. His entire body giving a gentle shake in response. He couldn’t do much other than watch Safi for the time being, including how they were cleaning the air out with their wings. He would only gently sigh as he’d look up at them in response to the trill. A low gentle hum coming from him as he’d take note of what they were doing, that was when he saw them biting into their leg and it made him jump. He thought they were going mad for a moment before he saw they were showing him, were they hurting themselves as payment of sorts?
Then he saw that as he’d blink. “Huh...?” He’d pause as he’d narrow his eyes a bit. “...I don’t....” He’d pause as he’d sigh and closed his eyes and tried to well... put his foot against the ground. Yet... was unable to well, really draw the energy out. He didn’t have the ability to tap into the everstream in the slightest, or if he did he didn’t know how to access it at all. “...Can’t.” He’d say while keeping his head low, his tone a bit more... saddened now?
Gwyn didn’t really want to upset them but it seems no matter what he did he couldn’t heal himself like they could, but could they even understand that? Even as he kept trying there was no improvement, he didn’t have a good idea of how to do it, and was unsure if he had any ability to do so even if he did know how anyway.
“I’m... going to rest.” He knew they’d not really understand, but did start to lay down when he did stop. He was going to prepare to sleep, so that he didn’t have to deal with when the wound was at its worst.

“Caaaatch. Wrrrrestttleeeee” Safi was openly enjoying the playfighting, continuing to writhe and wrap their way around Gwyn while trying to gain the upper hand. Even with Gwyn going easy on the young elder, Safi found that they struggled with a fairly even match. Plus, the energy that Safi felt continued to just build and build…
Oh. They knew a way to release that.
Letting out a delighted trill at their idea of a trump card, Safi pulled slightly away from the Alatreon, opening it’s maw and letting a blue energy trickle forth. Soon enough the sapphire flames licked at the side of their mouth, condensing more and more until it peaked at one single spot, finally surging forth in a beam of caustic, liquid flame aimed straight at Gwyn.
Something clicked when the scent of burnt flesh reached Safi’s nose. They tensed immediately, pupils contracting into thin slits as they whipped their head around, looking for some small nonexistent threat. With rippling scales they stepped over Gwyn, snarling and lashing their tail as they continued to glance around the space warily, searching for the absent hunter that they knew was there somewhere. Yet, there was nothing but the sound of the other elder dragon around Safi. No armor clinking, no fluttering of scoutflies…
No. They didn’t want to experience pain again. Safi stalked forth, thoroughly examining each nook and cranny of the space around them, convinced that there was some threat about and clearly locked in some trauma-based paranoia.
Gwyn indeed was enjoying it, but then was baffled for just a brief moment as the blue flames started to force their way forth from their maw. It both peaked his curiosity and his concern to a mild extent. He saw it coming yet in his position he had no way of getting out of the way, merely mitigating part of the damage that such an attack would give.
He hadn’t expected quite a powerful attack for someone so much weaker physically, but he had to admit… maybe he was a bit arrogant assuming that. His “ironclad” didn’t really do much against such a thing, and the pain assailed his body. To add onto that the scent of burning flesh brought back less than pleasant memories for himself as well. However, this was the least of his concerns, even in the few seconds he just stayed there after the attack he could see the reaction of the Safi’jiiva. How they reacted very poorly to such trauma. It reminded himself of the younger him… “Safi.” He’d throw his wings out as he stood up once more, blowing smoke and dust that had been kicked up away, his tone had changed. A little less friendly but not inherently hostile. One could call it a neutral tone, albeit it barely. His chest had taken the full brunt of the hit, and a large portion had been left with the scales seared away and the muscle beneath scorched and smoldering, faint wisps of smoke from the edge of the wound that spread from near the bottom of his neck over down his front to a blemish across his under belly. He’d lift a leg, a slight shake at first as he’d start to focus himself. He pointed to the injury and said one simple thing. “You.” He still kept the language simple even now, though his expression and tone change likely spoke of what he needed to. Maybe such injury may remind Safi of the injuries it self had taken in the past, Gwyn had no idea on how they may react but he hoped it would not be further hostility.
At the sound of their name, Safi’s head snapped towards Gwyn, red hue still swirling around it’s vision as they tried to focus on the other dragon. Going back and forth between vocalizing confused warbles and menacing growls, Safi shook their head, attempting to clear the haze that seemed to surround it at the moment. Once accomplished Safi looked back to Gwyn, lowering their head to the ground and uttering a concerned trill. Gwyn was…. Much worse for the wear. A large blast mark covered his chest, and blackened skin flecked away practically exposing the muscle underneath. How did this happen?
And then, Gwyn pointed at the wound, then Safi.
Safi did this? But…. No, Safi was just… Wrestling, weren’t they? Sure they had a lot of energy, just wanted to blow off a little steam. Did…. Did they release their energy? At Gwyn? Slowly, keeping their head low to the ground, Safi slinked forward. They jerked their head back each time they smelt the burnt flesh, fighting the urge to delve back into that ever-present paranoid haze but continuing forward nonetheless, eventually closing the distance between them and Gwyn. Gently sniffing at the wound, they did indeed catch the scent of the everstream’s energy, still smoldering and dissolving some of Gwyn’s skin. This was Safi’s fault.
Safi inclined their head slightly towards Gwyn, letting out a sad, apologetic keen. They knew that they had messed up, and clearly Gwyn was not pleased with their actions either. Safi didn’t know that their beam would have this effect, they only wanted to play. But now they knew, the beam was way too much, too harmful to be properly used in play. This also meant that things like the crystal was too much, or anything involving using the everstream’s energy. Safi certainly wouldn’t make that mistake again.

Gwyn stood there, unflinching as he let them slowly understand it bit by bit. His torso felt like he had almost been cut in half from how intense the burning was, he knew this was not the case but regardless. He’d sigh in response to the noise they made, he had to admit. He was displeased but there was no point in being angry, if they understood what was wrong he expected they’ve already learnt their lesson. Thus the elder merely raised his biological leg and put it at the top and ran it down it’s length, forming a mass of ice against his body against the wound. The numbness of the cold would help a little at least... He’d try to not frown at Safi, though even so.. he’d shudder. Unable to contain the full extent of his injury when he wasn’t prepared to fight. “Safi, no beam.” He’d state at them, as he steeled his tone. However the pain did leak through. He was bringing his head down towards the earth, towards Safi’s own. “Be careful.” He said, as he’d start to press against them. Those turquoise eyes of his emitting a gentle glow as he’d try to comfort the other elder, trying to downplay the injuries full effects even. Keeping his breathing steady was difficult but he had to do it for their sake.
He’d emit a low whine as he’d feel the pain more as he moved, the ice cracking gently in some spots. It was not a pleasant sensation. “Gog damn...” He would take another breath as he looked away, and then back at Safi. What could he do to try and comfort them? He wasn’t going to heal quickly enough to comfort them, even if he healed faster than any other Alatreon he knew. His entire being quivered slightly with each breath he took not long after, the pain settling in as the initial shock wore away.

The instant Gwyn started moving away, Safi bounded after the big elder, earth tremoring underneath the two. The young elder was rather fast, nearly getting a nip on the Alatreon’s tail from time to time but never fully closing on Gwyn. All the while, Safi’s mind rolled the idea of the word “catch” around its head. Was that what they were doing? Trying to catch the other?
Tightening the circle in which they ran, Safi attempted to run perpendicular to Gwyn, significantly closing the distance between the two before the Alatreon veered off, not allowing Safi to get quite close enough. Switching up the strategy every so often, Safi continued to weave around the other elder, slowly but certainly gaining ground on the other.
Gwyn for his immense size and considerable bulk was a surprisingly deft elder, able to evade the slightly smaller elder. He could see they weren’t exactly stupid by how they formulated strategy to try and catch him, even as he slipped away just barely once more he could sort of see. They were smart, but yet to actually know many things. They’d go far once they’ve learned a bit. He decided they’ve had enough time either way, he’d only make a ever so slight slip up, expecting that it combined with the Safi’s own strategy would allow them to catch him. He wondered what the next step would be with them, to teach them yet more.
Yes! Finally, an opening! Seeing Gwyn’s faulty movement, Safi pounced on the bigger elder, nearly knocking the Alatreon over with sheer momentum and bulk. Safi’s head snapped down onto Gwyn, playfully biting a limb a bit harder than was necessary, but not nearly enough to do damage. Rumbling out a playful growl at it’s success, Safi continued to try to play with Gwyn, biting and wrestling with the other elder. Clearly they had a lot of energy to burn through.
Gwyn was taken off guard briefly by the momentum but upon the bite also realized that was a bit rough. On the upside though... he could probably reinforce the word. “Caught.” But with that he’d quite happily wrestle and bite more lightly back while he said one word when he started to do that. “Wrestle.” He’d probably play “easy” with them, to avoid hurting them since he did suspect he had vastly superior physical strength owing to size and bulk. On top of that he did have better durability... so he knew to go easier on them than he’d go on himself. Trying to find just the right balance between giving them a challenge and not going too harsh on them.
