okay stay with me for this one.
When Ilya moves to the Centaurs he doesn’t get to keep his number. Some old fuck on the team already has it and refuses to trade, no matter how much Ilya bribes him.
so, in true Ilya Rozanov fashion, he picks the number 24. People think he did it to be an asshole, which is true, but he also did it to have Shane with him all the time. Shane was both infuriated and touched by it.
but then of course, years later, SHANE transfers to Ottawa. And lo and behold, the old fuck who had number 81 retired, so when Shane has to choose a number?
81 is available.
so the first day of training, Shane walks into practice in a jersey that says Hollander, 81, with an absolutely shit-eating grin on his face.
and Ilya goes insane.
Shane’s iphone has been in a protective case it’s entire life. He gets a professional grade screen protector and gets the new upgraded iphone model every year
Ilya has never owned a phone case in his life. He goes through like 6 phones a year but only replaces them after the screen is cracked enough to cut his fingers trying to sext Shane
I just know that Shane was one of those kids who didn't speak til three and when he did he busted out a full sentence one day and that sentence was, "Jason stole my FUCKING crayons" followed by a WHAP as Shane hit Jason and Jason hit the floor and Yuna and David were summoned immediately to the school to have an Important Conversation and David sat there the entire time staring at Yuna out the side of his head because Shane did NOT get those "interpersonal skills" from the mailman and Yuna's only response to the entire conversation was, "Well. Did Jason steal his fucking crayons???"
Twenty-three years later Ilya Rozanov dies on a floor in Ottawa after hearing this story for the first time.

watching movies / tv shows + bucktommy for the intimacy prompts please 🙏🏽
Most days, Buck is fine. He goes to work, he sees his niece and nephew, he cuts his new lawn, and he finds purpose in all of it. Life goes on. He watches porn and fucks his fist and he goes whole weeks without thinking about the way Tommy’s hands felt on his skin.
But the ache always comes back. Sometimes it’s a rush of sadness, loneliness, confusion. We were so good together. Why couldn’t we make it work? Sometimes it’s frustrated arousal. Random hookups leave Buck empty and unsatisfied, and he can’t bring himself to pretend to date for real. Tommy still has his heart. He hasn’t been able to figure out how to take it back.
Usually when the ache rolls around again, it’s about love. He’ll see something that would make Tommy laugh and he aches to hear the sound of it again. He’ll watch a movie and his house will feel too quiet without Tommy’s commentary, too cold without Tommy’s arm around his shoulders.
Tonight, it’s too much.
He’s scrolling through Netflix trying to find something to watch when he passes the documentary about Charles Lindbergh that he and Tommy never finished. With a pinch in his chest, he’s pulled back to the night they’d started it.
They’d been in his bed in the loft, cuddled close, facing the tv on his dresser. He’d quickly fallen asleep against Tommy’s chest, lulled by the rolling breaths and steady heartbeat under his ear, warm and safe. He’d woken up to a dark, silent tv as Tommy shifted carefully to place the remote on the night stand.
“Sorry,” Buck had mumbled. “Wanted to watch this one.”
“Nothing to apologize for,” Tommy had said, stretching more fluidly to shut the bedside light off now that he didn’t have to worry about waking Buck up. “It’s cute how you always fall asleep ten minutes into anything aviation related.”
“You can finish it if you want.”
“It’s okay,” Tommy had said, shuffling down the bed and taking Buck more fully into his arms. “I know how this one ends.”
“Everyone lives happily ever after?”
Buck had felt Tommy’s lips curl into a smile as he kissed Buck’s forehead.
“Sure.”
Buck had hummed happily and dropped back off, content.
He hasn’t slept as well as he did that night since Tommy left him. Tonight will be no different, he knows. His new house is cozy, but it can’t compare to the feeling of Tommy’s arms around him. Nothing can.
He clicks into the documentary and sees that Tommy was right: only fifteen minutes of the hour and a half have been watched. Tommy hadn’t kept it on for very long after Buck had fallen asleep.
Charmed, aching, stuffed so full of longing that it finally overflows, Buck picks up his phone and calls Tommy before he can talk himself out of it again.
Just a reminder to relax and do not take everything you see by heart
Remember last year when Tommy was not supposed to come back in S8 and have an offscreen breakup? Or when he was not supposed to come back after 8.06 and "this is an exit interview" and Oliver and TIm half hinting to move on
Or when the hookup was just that and he has no feeling for Tommy anyway so Tommy isn't ever coming back (again)
And he came back (again)
What's important is what's on screen, if the last year and half should teach anyone anything, it's that
Interviews? Leaks ? Random blog/website personal POV? Nothing matters but the screen or official and direct comment
Tim nor Oliver never said that Tommy would never come back, Lou never said he wasn't coming back and would never pick up Tim's call again
So let's breath, together
Remember that S9 probably doesn't even have a A or B phase since the first part is just an opening and 2 episodes, can't really build momentum there, so S9 will just be one continuation of S8
We have time, and amazing creators around us, take solace in fandom if current canon is too much
HAPPY ONE YEAR OF 8x05 MASKS TO THOSE WHO CELEBRATES 🎃
Here’s a possible prompt: Maddie and Tommy interacting. Does she need his help for something? Run-in at the grocery store? In the kitchen together at a 118-adjacent gathering? Maybe she doesn’t like him and is reluctant to even talk to him or maybe it’s just an awkward happenstance.
Good luck writing! 💚
so I saw this gifset and realized tommy wouldn’t know that maddie’s throat was slashed. this made me revisit this prompt bc I could see tommy’s reaction to that so clearly! also a reminder that this is what maddie’s hair will look like in s9
Read on ao3 or below!
Tommy had known that there would be consequences for stealing a helicopter a second time.
The first time, he’d gotten off with a slap on the wrist. Hen had gone through the trouble of forging papers and the Chief had publicly announced that the mission was sanctioned. Tommy had been well enough protected by other people’s lies that his captain had given him a stern Never do that again and left it at that.
This time, he’d led the Army and the FBI on a very public helicopter chase in the skies above downtown LA and landed on the grass of the Coliseum. He’d literally committed treason. A two month suspension felt like a laughably lenient punishment for that. It’s a miracle he’s not in jail.
Instead, he’s at the supermarket on a Sunday afternoon, which sort of makes him wish he was locked away somewhere that had limited contact with the general public. This time of the week, the produce section turns into a combat zone, wall to wall with bodies and carts. Tommy tucks his basket into his side, bobs and weaves around elderly women and screaming children, baffled Instacart shoppers and young couples being far too affectionate for what a head of broccoli could ever possibly call for.
He heaves a sigh of genuine relief when he’s finally spat out into the seafood section, dazed. He takes a moment to look at the pre-sliced fillets he knows he won’t buy, using the cool air wafting from the refrigerators and the relative lack of other bodies in this section to calm himself back down.
Tommy hates the grocery store. He views it as a necessary evil, and even then, barely worth it. The only times he’d ever enjoyed it were when he’d gone with Evan. Seeing the place through Evan’s eyes had been like seeing a master artist in a craft store, or a well-trained puppy moments away from being allowed to sink its teeth into something meaty. Evan was always excited, hungry; bursting with meal ideas backed up by a precise knowledge of the best and right ways to make each and every ingredient sing.
It had been endlessly endearing, watching Evan bounce from limes to avocados to tomatoes, listening to the fun facts he had about almost every item in the store. Did you know that strawberries technically aren’t berries, but bananas are? Crazy, right? Dimples cratering, perfect teeth shining in the fluorescent lighting that suddenly didn’t look quite so haunting, eyes falling half-lidded and cheeks pinking up sweetly when Tommy asked what else he knew about bananas. God, Evan had been so adorable that Tommy’s heart had ached right there in the grocery store—right there in the middle of the war zone.
So okay, maybe sometimes a head of broccoli does call for some midday public fondling. Tommy gets it.

do you ever think about what happened between steve pulling bucky out of the water in civil war to bucky waking up with his arm in that vice? how to steve, seconds felt like hours and hours felt like days; waiting, waiting, waiting, for his best friend to wake up. waiting, waiting, waiting, for his best friend to forget him all over again.
steve didn’t know what bucky would remember after he passed out. he didn’t know if bucky would wake up as the winter soldier or the wartime soldier he grew up and and shared a battlefield with. all he knew was that in those seconds that felt like hours, those hours that felt like days, he had him. he held him, sat with him, breathed the same air as him. steve would have watched over bucky the way a dog watches over her sleeping owner and he would have felt the most at home he’s felt since he came out the ice.
remember: steve hasn’t touched bucky beyond a fist to his jaw in 70 years, but now? he’s right in front of him; not just tangible but indisputable.
do you ever think about that? or is it just me?
