Tonight I sat on the floor of my shower and cried. For the first time in my life it was a happy cry. [Honestly, I don’t think I have ever cried because I was happy] Sure, it could have been a build up of a lot of other factors: stress, exhaustion, being out in the insane heat and winds, all the wine I drank [lol], but really, I think I finally had a moment where I think I’m in control of my life. I spent the day with some really cool women. Girls that I've been getting to know better each time we meet up. They are talented, driven, focused and I admire them. In the back of my mind though, I wonder why they invite me to hang out with them. I never saw myself in any of those categories really, and our common interests didn't seem like enough for them to like me. This feeling has changed so dramatically for me now. I had a realisation last year that I could actually do something I love as a career. I've been slowly building on the things I do outside my day job to get to a point now where more opportunities are making themselves available to me. I now can say that I know I'm good at what I can do, I love doing it, and I think that it shows. These incredible women brought me into their circle and have nurtured me with their generosity and shown me my value. It's a new level of confidence I have and it's so invigorating. It's also a confidence I never had [and now I'm crying again as I type] and I can't express the joy I feel to have it now.
