(On behalf of G!News, sincere condolences on how the speaker butchered Markiplier's nametag.)
As stated, the video is linked to the exact timestamp but G!News recommends watching the whole thing if you're interested.
There must be an emphasis that just because something is popular, that doesn't equate to "not indie". Indie, short for "independent", doesn't have the financial and distribution support from major corporations. An indie studio can have plenty of projects and have contracts with companies like Netflix and Amazon, but they're still indie. One main contributor being the amount of resources studios have, not just in terms of money but staff, lawyers, equipment, etc. To clarify, it's not that indie lacks of/has zero resources; they simply find other means to get them.
Additionally, the creators in indie are allowed the creative freedom and realization of said project if corporations have previously rejected their idea or how they underestimated audiences. Anyone can animate; it's just that there's no singular way to do it. That, in turn, is now changing the future of media.
