there’s something so loving about what tom björklund does and just- fuck I’m foaming at the mouth here

facial reconstruction isn’t a new concept (see the Kennewick Man/Patrick Stewart incident) but it’s difficult to find people that are truly good at it! genuinely there is a big gap in this field because there just aren’t a lot of people who do it professionally!

facial reconstruction, especially from bone or bone fragments, is such a fascinating intersection of art and science, and a tremendous amount of care is put into determining what these people might have looked like.

with that said, it’s VERY easy to screw it up

configuring muscle attachments and fat distribution is genuinely *very* difficult to do, and when you do it badly, you get this (pictured above). by adding too much muscle, they gave this 600 year old man a VERY interesting jawline (notice that the bottom of the chin doesn’t match up with the bone at all!) and they *really* made him look older than he was. would you believe me if I said that he was estimated to only be 46 years old?

basically I’m just REALLY excited about Tom Björklund’s art because it’s amazing work, just from an anthropology perspective

facial reconstructions aren’t just an artsy thing that you can just say “oh, that’s cool!” to

by giving these people faces, even if they aren’t always accurate, we open the doors for the average person to connect with the past at a very human level. sure, looking at bones is cool, but looking at art of someone that lived thousands of years ago is *incredible*

looking at a picture of a boy that lived thousands of years ago and thinking “yeah, he would’ve loved Minecraft” is EXACTLY the reaction that these pieces are meant to elicit

Man... what a journey. I've been following this band since 2006 and I'm just devastated. There were times where they were the only reason I got out of bed some days and I'm so sad ill never get to see them live again.

I get people hate Panic but I wouldn't wish this pain on anybody it sucks. Beyond heartbroken.

Truth, I think Brendon fucked up but those of you who are going back years and years to find something. I honestly wonder do you actually care or are you just wanting to join in on hating. It makes the concern about important issues seem performative. People should be allowed to grow, people learning every day, there’s difference between people who are straight up bigots and ppl who said dumb things when they were young.

I still think Brendon has a beautiful voice but it has changed a lot since he was younger and that’s normal. I just wish he would take down one key, do he doesn’t have strain his voice. Haters can say what they want, but it’s obvious how much Bren loves music and I think he really worked album.

After 20+ hours of hand painting these bad boys my newest Panic! at the Disco canvas shoes are complete! I decided to go with an Emperors New Clothes shoe and a Local God shoe because I thought the themes and imagery look really cool together. I worked super hard on these and I can not wait to wear them to my concerts for this tour!

I really like Viva las vengeance, Middle of Breakup and Local God 🤷🏽‍♀️! I don’t care how basic you guys think it is or how much ya’ll loathe Brendon. I have been waiting for him to take more initiative with writing songs, so I’m not going to complain now that he’s finally doing so. I’m proud of him for being honest and vulnerable, none of these songs are diss tracks, he’s just being open about his feelings and I can respect that. Also those of you trying to start unnecessary drama, stay looking silly because fans that met Ryan respectfully asked him about Brendon and there’s no beef. Whatever happened there’s animosity and he’s supportive of him.
