Full INTERIM album on Spotify <3

This is the first full length album from pwtf. It includes very bouncy synthesizers, lots of orchestral elements and a chilled out "end of day" feeling.

Brett:

So I wanted to build an album that sort of felt in-between two other projects, but was still its own story. I started with "Dawn Mauve", that was actually the first track I ever wrote/composed for the album with "Organic" being the second. I think you can kind of tell as the songs get deeper and more texture gets added along the way. "Dawn Mauve" was intentionally pretty barebones because I wanted it to be the opener of this story, sort of an elevator feeling when you step in and it's just a simple little melody played over and over, but as the elevator goes up and up it takes you on this journey you didn't expect. The songs I composed for this were based purely off my emotions at the time and whether or not that's how they're interpreted it's clear to me how I feel when I made them and the memories they bring now.

I wanted to make more than 10 songs but I knew I needed to get this album finished in early 2017 and by the end of the 6th month of just being drowned in small compositions here and there I put the whole album together and ended up on an even 10. I could have pushed for more but I knew that the passion and emotion I was pouring into this thing began to drain me completely and in the end I'd lost inspiration and motivation to keep making tracks. Which in a way is a good thing because it meant I didn't just drop a bunch of tracks into this thing that didn't mean anything personal to me, unlike how each of these tracks do.

Every song on this album represents a part of my life in 2016. It was a rough year for everyone but in the end I believe translating my life into music gave me the ability to stay on top of it all.

I know I probably haven't shut up about this album that I'm working on but it's slowly getting there and I'm extremely excited to show people what I've been working on even if nobody really listens to it.

Comparing to the EP I released this thing is a huge improvement in terms of the quality and just general song progression throughout the album. I think the EP I released was sort of a testing ground to see if I could actually make a body of music and release it publicly without actually putting myself into the music, so this album INTERIM is more of me actually trying to convert my brain and my feelings into music.

The basic design of the next album is like a comedown off my previous album. A sit around and think about the world kinda vibe. I want it to be beautiful with lots of strings and orchestral sounds and some organic guitar and maybe even singing if I can find the right voice. It feels like that sunday morning where you wake up and there’s spongebob playing on low on the tv in the background and you’re sitting at the dining table with glazed over eyes just drinking a coffee, that’s probably the best way to describe it.

I might not even achieve that but at the moment that’s currently what I’m craving, just a day of peace where no one disturbs me and it’s nice and cool and I’m not feeling sick or grumpy about something, so this album is sort of a practice run at translating my mind into music. Rather than the usual “making what I want to hear”, I’m “making what I hear in my head” if that even makes sense. Anyway enjoy.
