This is a photo of me sitting on a piece of film history. The fact that Who Framed Roger Rabbit’s Benny the Cab sits all but forgotten in a back corner of Hollywood Studios’ Backlot Express -- it’s just unfathomable to me. But there it is, all the same. I felt honored to sit in the same seat as the late Bob Hoskins. Truly awesome moment.

One of my favorite new (to me) games!
Happiness is a package from the Boardgamegeek Store! Promos for Sushi Go!, BioShock Infinite, Heroes Wanted, and Ca$h 'n Guns *and* wooden tokens for a new favorite of mine, Yardmaster!
My friend Michael and I dressed up as background characters from The Venture Bros this year for DragonCon. The characters are so far in the background, in fact, that they don’t have names! Mike’s character - “Unnamed Jet Pack Scientist” according to the Venture Bros Wiki - has appeared in four episodes (including the show’s pilot), while my character - “Unnamed Magician Villain” - has only shown up twice. Oh, and neither character has ever uttered a single syllable on screen.
We were apparently too clever for our own good, because no one knew who the hell we were dressed as. Even at the Venture Bros fan meetup in the Marriott’s Pulse Loft, which is where these shots were taken.
Next year we’ll both just dress up as Dr. Girlfriend. Ha!
Spotted The Dreamfinder and Figment at DragonCon 2015!
Just a small sampling of the awesome costumes on display at DragonCon 2015. The cosplay is what keeps me coming back!

My pal Michael and I (not pictured) dressed up as no-name background characters from the series.... and no one recognized us. And they call themselves Venture fans?! Lame.
There were some terrific costumes on display at the Doctor Who: NuWho 10th Anniversary Ball, a dance party held in the Sheraton Downtown Atlanta's Grand Ballroom on September 6th as part of DragonCon 2015.
My game collection! Or at least most of it. There are a bunch of smaller games (like Hanabi, No Thanks!, Gloom, etc.) in that green box, and my vintage (read “old and dusty”) games are up in my closet. As I take them off the shelf and play them (and there's a bunch of these I haven’t even played yet), I plan on posting about them, so you can look forward to that! :)
So there’s this terrifically talented comic artist named Chris Schweizer. I had the pleasure of happening across his booth at Dragon Con a few years ago, and I immediately took a shine to his work. He has a unique, fun style, and I love that he’s so interested in history, exploring different eras through his art.
A few months back he was taking orders for a book of 555 character drawings, and for a little extra scratch, he was offering to create a custom bookplate featuring a character of the buyer’s choosing. Of course, I jumped on the opportunity with both feet… only to have indecision strike. Anybody living or dead, real or fictional? How am I supposed to choose somebody when I have the whole of history to choose from?!
Then I had a eureka moment. The second year I went to Dragon Con, I cosplayed as the Surge Protector from Wreck-It Ralph, and I realized that with the Dragon Con connection, my choice was obvious. Plus, who doesn’t want to see themselves immortalized in a caricature, even if they are dressed as someone else?
I’m extremely happy with the end result, and the book itself is a treat to boot. I am one happy camper. Thanks, Chris! :D
Space Mountain - Speed Ramp.
5 minute loop of the World Famous Jungle Cruise’s Temple ambiance at the Magic Kingdom. Ambiance is free of any monkey screeches and tiger roars. Cut and cropped by yours truly.
I saw The 39 Steps at New World Stages in the fall of 2010 with my friend Alex, and I immediately fell in love. Exciting, fun, funny, and inventive - just about everything you could ask for.
Based on the Hitchcock film of the same name, the story follows the dashingly handsome Richard Hannay (played by John Behlmann when I saw it) as a chance encounter pulls him into the unfamiliar world of international espionage. The original film was a madcap spy story, and although there were laughs here and there, it was played mostly straight. The play, however, aims squarely for the funny bone, with two of the four actors playing dozens of roles each - and sometimes multiple roles at once!
Since the show closed shortly after I saw it, I feel very lucky that I had the chance to see it when I did. It's apparently coming back in a new off-Broadway production in April of this year, so if you find yourself in NYC, I'd strongly suggest that you check it out!
(BTW, that's the Criterion Theatre pictured up above where the show is currently playing in London.)
