I've been thinking quite a bit on this, but I'm sick and tired of the Social Justice Keyboard Warrior movement. If you're going to be a Social Justice Warrior, then be one. Be active, protest, do something to get information out, but by all means, educate yourself on what you are fighting for, and fighting against.
Just simply because someone is born into a system where there is oppression they are polarized on two sides, the enemy, and the oppressed. Even if by sheer virtue they are trying to help remove the oppression, they are considered the enemy, simply for being comfortable with what they were born into.
Think back for a second with me, to the "DIE CIS SCUM" issue we had. Think for a second, what does "Cis" mean? By what I've gathered from my time observing, "Cis" is being comfortable with the gender they were assigned at birth, or "Comfortable in own skin". Okay, so there's something, but one of the major polarizing factors is if someone is both cis and heterosexual. By proclaiming "DIE CIS SCUM" you have alienated a group of people who fall into the subsets of being Cis. What if someone was a man who was comfortable being male and he was homosexual? Unfortunately for the social justice keyboard warriors, or SJKW as I'll call them from now on, they just included that person in their declaration of war.
"But they can't be Cis if they're gay or lesbian!" They can, because Cis does not inherently include heterosexuality. It describes how someone feels about their own body, the gender they were assigned at birth, and how they wish to portray themselves gender-wise. Sexualities are not mentioned.
Those of you in the SJKW movement have also completely forgotten about those who are bi-sexual, asexual, aromantic, genderfluid, or Gods forbid they be pansexual. There are apparently only three letters in LGBTQ et al. that seem to matter. "If you are not within the L, G, or T categories, please leave your issues out of this." Well then, that's not very equalizing, is it?
I see a lot of hate festering within the SJKW movement as well, especially against anyone who is white. "Special Snowflakes" as you say, still have their own issues. Poor is poor, whether you are white, black, hispanic, asian, or any other ethnicity I am forgetting. Poor is poor. The system to get out of it sucks, yes, but it does not mean to disregard, belittle, or debase anyone who is white and happens to have this issue. POOR IS POOR.
Next topic on the white issue: Being LGBTQ et al. while being white. Being white does not mean that being LGBTQ et al is trying to appropriate and get attention. We are trying to live our lives just the same as you are. Don't get us wrong, we want the same exact thing you do: EQUALITY.
Let's talk about another thing I see rampant in the SJKW movement. "Anti-Allies". You want help getting out of the system of oppression, no? Let there be an allied force helping you out. They want to help you, so let them. Do not turn them away for simply being "The Enemy". The only way out of a hole without a shovel is to have a helping hand.
I know there are those of you in the SJKW movement who are bullying people simply for being cishet, by right of being born that way. If you want to be treated as an equal person, do not treat others as you are being treated, but as you wish to be treated. That is being a decent human being. Our culture is becoming a warmongering race to see who can destroy who, and who can control the political structure. Hate breeds hate and blood. Blood breeds hate and death. Death breeds Hate and war. War breeds death and hate. There is a pattern, no?
TL;DR Get your heads out of your asses and actually sit back for a second. Think about what you are about to do. Breathe. If it is not how you would want to be treated, don't do it! Educate, educate, educate! We have a chance to get knowledge out there easily and efficiently with Social Media. Use it to your advantage, use your words, and be calm and collected. You don't get to choose who you are, but you can choose to hate, or to educate.
