unfortunately (as mentioned in other reblogs on this post, i just want to keep this from being a dash stretcher) i've been having issues with licensing for work through no fault of my own. this has put me out another 1600 dollars and counting... i still insist you only donate if you can comfortably afford to, but if you can. uh. please help!! it's heartbreaking as most of the money i've saved up over 3 years living with my wife has been wiped away because of this error. i have a bit of remaining cushion, but my wife, my roommate, and i (all trans, all bipoc) are working on moving out of texas and once i'm out, i'm out. i don't get any money from family bcos we are all fucking poor and disabled 🤷‍♀️ and ik many of you are too, so i really appreciate anyone who's taken the time to read this post.

People are having surgeries, for which they were on waitlists for years, suddenly cancelled. Hormones no longer covered, their clinicians no longer able to prescribe them. Considering in some states Catholic-owned healthcare organizations make up to a third of the market, as it were, this is a HUGE issue.

talking to people you want to get to know as if they're already your friends is a terrible terrible piece of advice that people online love giving out. but i think what people are trying to say when they suggest this is that you should talk to people you want to get to know as if they're your peers. which is a subtle but important distinction. the former is extremely overfamiliar and often because of this ends up making you seem rude, but the latter is more about conducting your conversations with someone as if it is unremarkable and low stakes for the two of you to be speaking together. which is only* rude if the person you're talking to thinks they're above having normal conversations with randos, in which case, probably not worth your time to befriend anyway.
