Just four years ago, amazingly, in the #Sinai of #Egypt. This was just after the Arab Spring/Summer and Egypt was virtually under no one's leadership. And yet, we had the most amazing time, swimming in the sea, climbing mountains, and going to the night markets. I made this trip to Mt Sinai on my own, suffering from a not so convenient stomach bug, and in the night. We climbed four or so hours to the top, where I was greeting with a cold I didn't expect (despite the warnings from guides and friends) and, remarkably, a snickers bar (and I might add how very much needed that piece of chocolate was in that moment). And then, this glorious light slowly faded into being, over the tops of mountains and onto our faces, and eventually washing over the mountain sides. This picture reminds me that even when the world seems very dark, and the darkest corners seem impossible to reach, they are surely not. (at Mount Sinai)
