Recently, I participated in a suicide prevention walk in my hometown. I can honestly say that I was blown away by the amount of people that showed up. You never really realize how many people are affected by this until you actually see it. Some were survivors, and some were loved ones of those that passed. The entire time that I was there, I was holding back tears. It really shows you that people care, even though you may not believe it. You are loved and there is someone who would be incredibly devastated if you were gone. Mental illness forces you to believe that you're alone when you're not. Events like this one can help you to see that. Mental health has a special place in my heart, because I've struggled with it for years now. My name is Brooke Delay, and I've struggled with depression and anxiety since sixth grade. Somehow I got through it and I am now a freshman in college. If I can do it so can you. :)
