BROOKLYN is a 48-page full-color Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes fanzine, containing illustrations and comics by over 35 different artists. It will make you laugh, it will make you go “aww”, it will most likely make you cry. If you didn’t snag a copy when it was in print, now’s your chance to check it out!

Wow. Aha, holy crap. 

So now that the Brooklyn Zine has finally launched and we’ll be getting our copies in the main soon, I can finally show what I drew! I’m working on setting this up to be a print here soon, just can’t decide what size to make it into.

FREEZER BURN CONTEST

WIN A BROOKLYN FAN ZINE! They are sold out and full of Stucky art. Very desirable, no?

I am going to arrange a ‘Freezer Burn Contest’ for Stucky AU fanfic/fanart, and the winner will get the zine shipped to them, free of charge. Details below.

TO SUBMIT:

You cannot already have a Brooklyn Zine. The point is to give this away to someone who couldn’t otherwise get one.

You must have a Tumblr account.

You can only submit one thing (story or original art) to the contest. Any length of story, any type of original art, any rating. Must involve both the Jerk and the Punk. Must be new.

Content must involve an AU of your choosing. Some suggestions later on in the post.

By OCTOBER 25, you must post your work on Tumblr with the tag “freezer burn contest” and, just to make sure I see it in time, please send me a link to it via “ask”. (In your post, please include a link back to this post so people can see what’s going on/get stoked/decide to join in themselves!)

SOME AU POSSIBILITIES:

Spaaaaaaace! (Firefly verse! Star Trek verse! Completely original verse!)

Supernatural! (The genre, not the show. Ghosts, faeries, satyrs, mermaids!)

Period piece! (Let’s say anything before 1900.)

Power swap! (Steve tinkered his way to an ‘Iron’ suit to join in on the war! The experiments on Bucky went horribly awry and he turns into a rage monster!)

Something else! (I’m not the boss of you.)

TO VOTE:

You DON’T have to submit something to vote. You can only vote once and you must be logged in. (No anons, and no using alternate Tumblr accounts. Don’t be tacky.) After the cutoff date, I will roll around in the submissions, giggling maniacally to myself assemble a masterpost so people can see every submission. Voting will be done through the ‘ask’ function.

Voting will be open for four days after the masterpost goes up. Then I will use my incredible counting skills to determine and announce the winner!

OH RIGHT I can post this now! Here’s the thing I did for brooklynzine. It was the first 100% digital piece I’d done in a while, and it felt SO GOOD.

Tried to make Steve look as poufy as possible, I think I succeeded.

Since the brooklynzine shipped out last week, now’s the time to reveal my illustration!

The zine was a blast to work with so many cool and talented people, and everything was wonderfully organized by brofisting! It makes me slightly jealous that people have already received their issue. Damn you, overseas shipping, I want my zine.

If you’re interested, some versions are  available through Redbubble. No prints but postcards! Because i work at too low a DPI for anyhting else! On the plus side, they’re cheap.

(side note: I actually sketched out a short comic explaining this illustration, but didn’t manage to finish it;;; I might go back to it eventually, though maybe not? Anyway, if I do it’ll be posted on my blog. )

I really love the idea of the Winter Soldier hallucinating a pre-serum Steve, because whatever Steve says is a projection of what Bucky Barnes really wants the Winter Soldier to hear.
