(it's still July 29th somewhere)
Among the many amazing aspects of the Hadestown pro-shot, one of my favorites is the way Patrick Pages injury provides an excellent example of how disability does not have to be barrier to musical theatre. The way his injury was presented, especially in Hades and Persephone's dance, shows how with enough care, choreography and blocking can be modified for a disability and still present a beautiful story. In fact, the pro-shot shows how disability can not only be accommodated, but also utilized for characterization and storytelling.
THE MEANEST DOG YOULL EVER MEET HE AINT THE HOUND DOG IN THE STREET HE BARES SOME TEETH AND TEARS SOME SKIN BUT BROTHER THATS THE WORST OF HIM THE DOG YOU REALLY GOTTA DREAD IS THE ONE THAT HOWLS INSIDE YOUR HEAD ITS HIM WHOSE HOWLING DRIVES MEN MAD AND A MIND TO ITS UNDOING
I just feel like we're not talking enough about the pro-labor, pro-union, themes in Hadestown. My boy Orpheus is literally wearing a red bandana. He said you simply have to stand up, together, even when it's terrifying and you have never done it before. There are more of us than them. Even if it seems impossible we have hope, because we are standing in solidarity. You can only make demands of gods if you have your union behind you. And then you realise they aren't gods, and you can bargain.

@gamechangershow if we could have the uncut unabridged footage of the Find Grant room, that would make a top quality youtube video. Several hours of grant look-alikes sporadically breaking into ominous countdowns and making silly jokes in between would be excellent background noise for anyone who wants to know what anxiety feels like.
been stewing on an analytical approach to fiction which I call "is this book afraid of me?" and in order to answer this question you determine how hard the book is trying to make sure you don't come after the writer on twitter

Please keep making art. Please make it for yourself. Please don’t let everything become even more of the same flat general appeal nonsense that doesn’t seem to have anything to say
Came across this art installation, Liza Lou's Kitchen, at the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC. It's a kitchen made of tiny glass beads, that artist Liza Lou did, taking 5 yrs. to complete, from 1991 - 1996.

Totally normal for a legitimate for-profit company to refuse to reclaim or stop running their products even after they're no longer being paid to do so. I'm sure it's very normal to just keep running your service for free when your contract's been terminated. Spending money to continue running cameras that supposedly no one is looking at is definitely not an indicator they are just run by the federal government to spy on everyone and only a wacko conspiracy theorist would think so.
we got august this week
been seeing a lot of misinformation than the movie was "based" on Emily Wilson's translation which frankly is an insult to wilson's work. anyway she has PUT that to rest in this review and absolutely ate him up. diva
