sidenote when i talk ab their relationships with music i dont mean to imply that liam is not a real songwriter or that he has a lesser connection to music but it is significant that hes always been uncomfortable with stepping into songwriting or labelling himself as such, and how obviously he detested being a songwriter/solo artist for himself. from the way he talks about it, it seems to me he enjoys the environment of music being on tour or in the studio or listening to it or even making it when hes in the right mood... its his life but its not his World

id never fully read the my abusive father belongs to me interview but the whole thing is great and makes total sense it was given soon after the breakup. im always interested in noels songwriting process, his own brand of inarticulateness & how it differs from liams (the stutter...) . i do believe him when he says the words arent the thing at the end of the day (even if i also believe that many of the words that are there are probably about liam) the words are wrenched together to fit the feeling, and often imo do sort of fail. in their own beautiful and narratively satisfying way of course. idk both brothers have an adversarial relationship to language but liams raw true expression is a scream and noels is a library of songs with no words to them
