Snippet I wanted to write but I ended up drawing instead. Shortly after the whole batarang-in-neck event, Jay drinks himself silly and starts fights with any asshole he can find. He's not in any state to even continue his Red Hood/mafia business.

And Batman stumbles upon him during one of those bar-fights-that-ended-up-in-a-full-shootout mess. Kicks everybody's butt and leaves them for the police to pick up. Only gets Jason away before that happens coz batdad just won't let his drunk baby to fistfight with the police too.

Drunk Jason has no idea what the mess of emotions he's feeling is.

That was not a good night.

Does anyone ever think about the fact that Dick's three primary love interests were all taller than him? Koriand'r was obviously warrior goddess adjacent (6'4"/ 193cm), but Barbara was 5'11" (180cm) pre-Flashpoint, and even Helena is 5'11", too.

When I realized this, I couldn't help but think about the fact that the average height of a woman in the United States is like 5'2"-5'4" (157.5-162.5cm). This is highly statistically improbable, meaning either:

1.) The average superhero is incredibly tall just due to natural selection in that pool (more likely to get people with the whole "warrior" build going on because, you know, warrior).

And I could see this being plausible, except it's not like every DC female hero frequenter is massive. Sure, there's definitely a lean towards taller than average, but not to this extent. Stephanie and Cassandra are only 5'5" (165cm). Dinah Lance is 5'4". Selina Kyle and Talia al Ghul are only 5'7" (170cm) and 5'8" (172.75) respectively. In fact, given his surrounding pool, it kind of seems like Dick naturally selects for the tallest woman in the region.

Ergo, the only other rational conclusion:

2.) Bro like big strong women. Bro is into that muscular matronage big time. He yearns for little spoon experience.

The worst-sounding piece of advice I've ever been given that does actually work is to frame your health concerns as coming from someone close to you, whom you do not believe. Tell your doctor that you've been having pain and your mom/friend/partner thinks it might be an ovarian cyst, but you don't think so because the pain is much more intense and it has to be something else. This gives your doctor an unseen third party to fight instead of you. They can't just tell this third party, who isn't present, that you pulled a muscle, they now need to prove to this third party that it is not an ovarian cyst.

At which point they will find an ovarian cyst, but they now get whatever fucked up satisfaction they derive out of proving you wrong, because you didn't believe it could a cyst at all, but guess what? They did find a cyst! It's such a good thing you didn't listen to your intuition and came to them to verify your lay diagnosis from that third party! Bonus? Doctor doesn't have to feel like they look stupid in front of a patient, which is really what all this is about. Not your health, why would you think your medical diagnosis is about your health? It's obviously about a doctor's potential ego.

And apparently this works. Apparently you just need to be able to always play 4D chess with your medical professionals in order to find an avenue of advocating for yourself and getting you medical needs met. Isn't that great?

Brudick is good as a ship (hot take among my mutuals I’m sure) but I also think it’s sooo interesting that they were canonically codependent and emotionally incestuous during Dick’s Robin days to the point that it negatively impacts Dick’s adult relationships. It also makes sense if there was sexual grooming but it doesn’t need it to make sense, which I think is fun for Dick to have this embarrassing insecure attachment and inappropriate adolescent crush from the way Bruce raised him, but since Bruce didn’t actually touch him it feels more like he’s the one making it weird and pathetic. I'm reading DC Universe: Inheritance by Devin Grayson, and there's this one part where Green Arrow uses the Batman voice to get Dick's attention and says Dick only listens to older men who are like Bruce. Ollie also mentions to Aquaman about how people think the older heroes do stuff with their sidekicks. I am shook

Yes, this is so real. It becomes a problem on patrol so obviously Stephanie doesn't need to go on patrol anymore. She's not really doing much like that anyway. She can sit under Barbara's desk when the other's are on patrol and lay in one of the other's beds when they're not on patrol. It's fine, she's still doing good. Stress relief and all that.
