Make your mental health a priority
It took me a pretty long time to realise that without good mental state, you won’t achieve anything. I kept pushing through because I thought my school success, friendships and other things are more important. But at the end it became very clear that all of this meant nothing to me because I wasn’t feeling okay. Here are ways you can make yourself and your health priority:
🌸 Take care of your physical health
Take vitamins if you need any
Get enough sleep but try not to sleep in too often
Get regular health check ups
Try to stay home when you get sick
Try to get at least a little physical activity
Try to eat moderately healthy and stay hydrated
🌸 Listen to your feelings
Don’t force yourself into things that feel wrong unless it’s a life or death matter
Don’t hang out with people who don’t make you feel good
Feeling good should be more important to you than any work
🌸 Make your own happiness a priority
Don’t try to make others happy unless it makes you happy
Don’t try to please everyone, you can’t
Don’t take on work of others’ when you have your own
🌸 Fill your free time with pleasant things
Try to reduce the amount of time when you just lie around, letting your bad mental state eat you alive
Find hobbies you like and push yourself to start
Take time to rest by doing things
Take time for self care, whatever that means to you
Spend time with people you love
🌸 Seek out the help you need
Talking to people about it
🌸 Practise basic self care, both physical and mental
