Found some shippy stuff I drew 2 years ago (or whenever i got into TF2) and went to finish / fix / edit it… Hope you like demopyro and/or demosolly
Whole team is done. There was a few things a struggled with, but everyone has something I’m proud of. I wanted to do color, but I’m still unsure of which to use, so for now the medium will be just pencil and ink. You guys were amazing, thanks for the motivational words! ♡♡♡

TFC Heavy vs. RED Medic - A different approach
So recently I have had a very long and interesting discussion with a good friend about the TF2 characters. Please let me share my thoughts with you.
A lot of fans, including myself, have thought and joked about that C!Medic left the Classic Mercs because of how horrible C!Heavy treats Medics and how he considers them useless. But then my friend brought up a very interesting point I had never thought of before. Let me put this quote here:
“(…) One more thought on the “Why TFC Heavy hates Medic so much”. I browsed through the TFC wiki to find some good reference for the Heavy and took a look on the Medic as well. As infuriating as it is, the Medic used to be one of the strongest classes with big offensive capacity, and even more important support for the Heavy than in TF2, being straight-up called “Heavy’s best buddy”. So what if the TFC Medic was not abused at all, but was this huge badass, collected and professional to the bone, and ultimate BFF with the Heavy instead, then forced to leave or maybe died? Let’s face it, from the Heavy’s point of view the TF2 Medic is an obvious downgrade by default, plus an absolutely crazy dork who stuffs animal uteri to people on the top of that. I can see how his whole existence is driving the Heavy mad, because for him it’s a constant reminder of a competent friend he lost, so he’s simply unable to see anything positive about the guy.”
The more I think about it the more plausible this seems to me.
First of all: C!Heavy might be a ruthless, choleric scumbag from our point of view, but he obviously cares a lot for his comrades, the people he has been working with for several decades. It’s 1972 now and we know the TFC mercs have been working together since at least 1930. Most of them are probably in their 70s-80s, maybe even 90s already. Maybe C!Medic is too old and sick to work as a mercenary now? Or maybe he’s even already died. In any case, it would explain why the TFCs needed to recruit a new Medic in the first place - and not because they didn’t like or didn’t want their old comrade with them anymore.
The moment C!Heavy figures out that the Australium can prolong lives he immediately betrays Gray Mann, the one who pays him more money than anyone could ever spend. And his reason for that is:
Later on when he hears that the RED team escaped and killed three of his comrades he is raging, he is overwhelmed by his thirst for revenge and wants to use Gray’s leech robots to torture them to death. And then he is willing to sacrifice the whole of Australia to get his hands on the last bits of the metal that can ensure he and his comrades will live longer. Of course that makes him incredibly evil and selfish, but that doesn’t matter to him. He puts the lives of his friends over that of a whole nation.
Let’s face it: These old guys are - on a personal level - much closer than our TF2 team. Not only do they work together efficiently and professionally as a mercenary team, they also refer to each other by their real names - even nicknames (Bea, Greg) - and so far we haven’t seen them arguing or being mean to each other at all. They’re like an old, but incredibly well-oiled machine. Compare that to how RED behaves: Most of the time they’re either annoyed by the others’ stupidity, insult each other or even get into physical fights.
Only once so far have we heard one of them call a comrade by his real name. Sure, they work together pretty well on the battlefield, but at this point most of them really seem to be comrades rather than friends. (For the most part, of course. Engie and Medic, the science buddies, seem to get along really well, for example).
But I digress. Back to C!Heavy’s issues with RED Medic. We have probably all wondered why he tolerated Medic for so long when he clearly disagreed with what the doctor did:
These statements make a lot more sense if you look at them from a different angle: He was against hiring RED Medic because he was convinced nobody could step in the shoes and replace the great, competent C!Medic and close friend their team had lost. The reason he did allow it after all was that he KNEW a Medic was incredibly important to a mercenary team. That’s why he and the team gave the RED Medic a chance and initially “didn’t say nothin’” when the new guy did weird and questionable things. But after a while, namely after bringing a dead enemy back to life, he has enough of the nonsense and snaps. He is now convinced that this Medic is nothing but a burden, a crazy freak and would never be able to help the team as the C!Medic did. While the C!Medic was a true doctor and a fully-fledged, competent mercenary in C!Heavy’s book, RED Medic is nothing but a useless nurse, a crazy Frankenstein and a psychopath to him, not capable of helping the team he works for. That’s why he told him not to leave the room and arrange some band aids.
In this moment he is so full of disdain and scorn for RED Medic that he doesn’t even seem to remember that this guy just managed to bring a person back to life. And even though it would probably be impossible to revive Bea, Medic would at least most likely be able to bring back C!Spy and C!Demo. A neck snap and a strangulation even seem to be easier to fix than someone who got shot twice, bled out and was dead for half a day. It should be a piece of cake for him!
But no, at this point C!Heavy is only driven by hatred and the thought of revenge, thereby rejecting the only hope of seeing his comrades alive again. And that mistake might be his eventual downfall.
We will find out more soon, I hope.
Is it bad I feel kinda proud of how many minds I apparently managed to blow with this theory? XD
Meanwhile, in Scotland.
