So I don't think I've ever made a post about my most loved OC, or if I have explained anything about them.
This is Ariona. They are one of my oldest OCs and have evolved the most in terms of design changes, backstory, personality, and more that I can't recall at the moment. She/they are about 5'1 ft (155 cm), born in 1890, has powers she didn't ask for, constantly has to travel for what she refers to as 'her job', and is usually pretty exhausted. 'Work' consists of tracking and aiding creatures she calls spirits because per quote,
"I wasn't given a manual for any of this".
Many of these spirits she aids are injured/lost and are in need of help or rehabilitation. Regular humans cannot see spirits, so Ari is constantly being told she is insane or is accused of using some type of witchcraft. She gave up long ago trying to convince anybody of the things she can see or has to deal with. It doesn't help her case that she has to regularly use certain 'sensitive' materials and tools to help get the job done (decayed remains, ashes, bones, and blood. Lots of blood). Don't ask where she gets it because SHE doesn't want to think about it. Anybody who suddenly wakes up one day being able to see creatures, hear strange voices and sounds, and suddenly set fire to things with just their HANDS would also go just a little bit nuts.
"You know, you wake up one day and find out that you have an ancient soul that gives you the power to move rocks, water, and fire- plus the ability to see walking nightmares in the daytime? Turns out that shoddy sealing spell put on you as a baby couldn't hold out for more than 19 years. AND NOW, those who put the fucking seal there want you dead- while at the same time, you can't sleep because these creatures are screaming for help. So yeah, it's great thinking you've lost your mind; why do you ask?"
If you ask her, she'll tell you the worst part of the job is being unwillingly thrown into different dimensions by some cosmic force to help bring wayward spirits back home.
There is so much more to Ariona's story than what I've written here. I've been too shy (and honestly embarrassed) to share anything about them for a very long time. I was worried about being shamed for "inserting my OC" into different stories and franchises and being "cringe". But it's just what my brain does. After experiencing an amazing TV show, movie, book, video game, whatever it might be. I love reading about other people's OCs, so I'm trying to learn to give myself the same grace and compassion.
