"We asked finn to carry a lot of emotional weight" bro said double it and give it to gaten
me talking to the duffer brothers after watching the finale 💕
I’m sorry but all these plot holes in Stranger Things 5 were insane. They said the finale would answer all the questions but not only did it barely answer anything, it just created dozens more
Also RIP to all those pregnant women in the lab who were literally blown up
A great deal of these are legitimate plots holes. Some of them massively gaping plot holes, like how Will was mostly unaffected by the attack on the Mindflayer or how he even went from sensing the hive mind to being able to see what it sees and then taking control of it.
But the scene that Finn and Noah were crying about was apparently the scene on the tower that Noah asked be added to the script.
I lived through the whole "we're still best friends" thing before. I was never moved to tears by it. But that stunt Mike pulled right before with "friends? no thanks" would've wrecked me, if only for a few seconds. Even then, the emotional whiplash would still be brutal. You don't play games like that with a gay friend who has feelings for you (and Mike knowing he's the crush is still impressively vague). It was only done to make Will think Mike was going to abandon him (despite the whole you'll never lose me thing that already happened), and tease the audience into thinking Mike might surprise everyone with something shocking.
Canon divergence route A: The Paladin
Mike leaving Will was totally out of character, even if Joyce was still with him. How the Duffers blew it that badly is insane.
I will say, good on Millie for daring to so publicly disagree with the duffers about her character. she really said, "☝️ um actually, will and kali are the people that most understand el so jot that down"
Good on her. I know she can't be confrontational, but I'm glad she's making her voice known.
she also directly says, "and not even Mike understands what she's been through" like she outright contradicts what the show made her say. She's amazing for that, truly.
I wonder if she really is pissed with El's ending, but she knows she can't really say that.
because i can be delusional one last time, here are all the inconsistencies i’ve gathered so far that makes me believe that either the finale didn’t happen or was a vision or it was a tragic ending:
mike ending up like ted. even the same hairstyle.
robin suddenly dressing in frills and has long hair
rovickie break up out of nowhere when last we saw robin was promising to take her on a date
el saying goodbye to mike in her mind when the sirens were blaring and she shouldn’t have been able to do that
the voltage dial turning from grey to red
the coming out scene dialogue inconsistencies
mike being unable to tell el i love you even though that was his plot for the entirety of st4
el saying mike understands her better than anyone else when el says the opposite in st4 and her love for max is what makes her more powerful than she’s ever been
the mind flayer and vecna defeat being very underwhelming
max at the dnd game crashing out about how the campaign doesn’t make sense the way we’re crashing out.
all the wsqk clues not adding up
duffers said we’ll know who opened the byers door bolt in ep1. the show still hasn’t told us
why was will framed as the exotic matter in the bridge episode drawing with an x over his heart?
why was the painting not addressed when it was wills entire st4 plot?
mike and wills eternal sunshine outfit inspirations when it led to absolutely nothing
max graduating with the boys when she’s missed a year of school
WHAT was vecna’s plan exactly? what would merging worlds do? what would it look like?
where were the demos both in the upside down and the abyss?
what about birthdaygate? why do henry and will share birthdays?
why do joyce and hopper never mention knowing henry?
what was the point of the “snowballs to avalanche” conversation?
why did will go from hopeful to giving mike up in a day?
why do the military let them go? and why is there a memorial with eddie’s name on it (as seen in BTS)?
why wouldn’t mike touch will even before the coming out? and more so after?
is mike grieving el the emotional weight of the finale? because it didn’t move me. in fact it pissed me off that he couldn’t say he loved her even then.
the duffers equating el to her powers in an interview saying she had to die. when millie herself said el’s st5 arc was realising she’s more human and less superhero.
if i’m missing something, feel free to reply and i’ll add it in edits
I can explain all of this.
They're Ted Wheeler. They're Principal Higgins. They're Hopper. They're Murray. They're every creepy weird white boy incel you've ever met.
They wrote this show for their fellow incels. That is the explanation.
It truly never was that deep because we are way, way smarter than they are. They just get their dicks sucked because they're mediocre white men.
The way Vickie just disappeared
I suppose the biggest hint that they didn't give two shits about Will was that they forgot his birthday.
We gave them far too much credit that Joyce later getting his age wrong in 1983 meant there were some memory shenanigans going on.
They didn't even include his passion for art in his ending. He's just the gay kid. It reads even worse when you consider that this is how Mike thinks of him now.
In the end, they just don't know their own show or their own characters well enough. Or there were too many cooks in the kitchen.
Will and El team up
they spend all season 4 making a point of Mike not saying 'I love you" and then when she's about to die HE STILL DIDN'T SAY IT??
will byers you will always deserve better
i love you forever will byers
te amo te amo te amo te amo
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine an ending that awful. Sorry for giving the writers too much credit I guess.
S5 was the worst written season of all time.
And I don't mean it just because byler didn't happen. But because nothing about Henry was explained, how he reached in that cave, what he was doing, who was that man with the briefcase. Like they said they would explain Henry, his memories and his past but I didn't realise it was gonna be just a single scene in the finale? And where were the demogorgons and demobats and demodogs in the finale fight? Was this a joke?
What was the point of military and lockdown and strict government action? Where did Sam Owens go btw while we are at it? No seriously there was no plot point for the military at all. They captured Kali and then they killed her. That was their arc. I'm crying at how badly handled this all was. Kali's death did not serve a purpose either. She wasn't killed for freedom or martyrdom, she was killed because the writers didn't know how to handle her potential and neither did they know how to close the military arc. She would've been family to Eleven for god's sake.
Eleven's decision was also one of the worst ones. She told Hopper to trust her to make the right choice and then she- What was the point, no seriously what was the point of Hopper and Mike's speech if the mistreated, abused girl couldn't even get her happy ending? At the end of the day you took the marginalised community and dragged her down with hate, internal conflict and ended her making a victim to the abuse she was never able to move on from. And even if she did survive, she's alone and isolated from the people who love and care about her. She's forced to be alone so as not to harm anyone. What type of message for abused victims is this anyway?
Will's connection was never mentioned again. Even if it did die with the mindflayer, the thing is how did he get them in the first place and why exactly was that the other kids couldn't duplicate them? Why did Vecna take Will anyway? Why not any other kid? Why was Hawkins stuck in the past? And omg what was the purpose of the kids? Why did they never explain how the kids are helping Henry channel his energy? They just shoved the idea in your head but never explained how the mechanism actually works? What was the point of Barbara's death?
The queerbaiting was one of the bad parts. But my goodness the assassination of Mike Wheeler was worse. You couldn't explain his behaviour in s3 and s4 until you literally unlocked his internalised homophobia-
God whatever the fact that Murray played a bigger role than Kali tells you everything you need to know.
Also Mike has the fucking painting in his bedroom wall and yet the lie was never fucking addressed?? Guess he was just a Tammy till the end, who failed to believe Will was dead, who recognised his breathing through the walkie talkie, who hurt his best friend and then further acted weird with him but yet was always very on point to his emotions and expressions in his observation.
I genuinely don't care about actors and their real life. But Finn man you've got some explaining to do with those lip glances and those triple takes and that soft voice reserved for Will.
And if mileven were really endgame why the fuck did he refer her as friends and why were they paired so less? In all honesty they weren't paired together at all.
I guess if byler wasn't canon then should've at least kept up Eleven and Mike's journey and their conversations and intimacy. Finn and Millie really lacked chemistry for me to root for them.
— She finds peace and she finally finds happiness. — This is just a theory? How do we know it's true? — We don't. Not for sure. But I choose to believe that it is.
