Ten things that made my morning:
1. Waking up before the alarm went off.
2. Working out. Believe it. I'm 21 weeks pregnant (so either half way if I go past the due date, or just starting my second half...look at it however you'd like) and I got myself on the elliptical. I was amazed at how strong my legs still were...although I was done at 3:31 minutes! But I kept on going...
3. Coffee...I switched from my Tassimo (mostly because it broke) to an old fashioned 10 cup brewer. I actually prefer this to my Tassimo, and don't get me started on the other single cup stations. The only one to buy in my book is a Nespresso.
4.Time. I took time to make banana pancakes for my little lady love. And she had a beautiful breakfast of banana pancakes, with homemade applesauce and strawberries.
5. A hot shower.
6. A peppermint dissolving aromatherapy thing for my shower...delish!
7. Putting on an oversized sweater...there was a slight chill this am.
8. Seeing my beautiful girls face this morning. She's wonderful.
9. A venti Earl Grey tea from Starbucks with 2 honey's and nonfat milk. This really, really, really makes my day.
10. Realizing that it's October 1, and getting really excited about the month.

Another heatwave this week, and the pumpkin beers are in the grocery stores...Fall is just around the corner, but until then, I will enjoy the heat of August.

Whew, I'm exhausted, but I've had a reMARTHAble two days! I've enjoyed a fantastic train ride to NYC with my sister, attended a Clinton foundation event, shook hands and spoke with former president Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and her husband Mark, stayed at a hip hotel (yotel), and shopped. My stocking sweetie is complete! While in NYC: Barney's gaga workshop, lunch at Bergdorfs and macaroons at laduree. Ahhhhh, perfection. This weekend? Maybe time to get a tree, and finish my technical drawing project. Also, did I mention I hung with the Clinton's? Albeit, for a moment, but I did! Truly a reMARTHAble day(s).

So, yesterday I blogged about fall and how it was creeping up on us. Well, this morning has a little bit of a bite to it (like in the 60s, not the lovely 70+'s it has been), and has been a little reminder of my favorite season. Then, I took a look at my Martha calendar and here is what should be attacked this week:
Plant fall cabbages and kale
Car tune up
Clean outdoor furniture
These are just gentle reminders that the end is near. Our summer is coming to a close...quickly. For those of you in warmer climates, you don't feel the rush of the season's door closing, but for us New Englanders, we do. Commercials about buying your season lift passes are on, you see the signs for apple picking and brew fests all around you, and it seems as though you really do feel the seasons changing in your bones. I don't know who I am anymore, but I'm starting to sound like an old New Englander saying, "you cahn't get theah, from heah."
But enough talk over this silly season change, it's summer for crying out loud! Today, I will spend my time weeding the outdoor planters, going on dump runs, cleaning the downstairs, and meeting with my new teaching partner and group to pow-wow over the upcoming school year. Yep, time to get our acts together.
Here's to kicking summer's butt and enjoying every minute of it!

Day 731..hahaha, just kidding!
Today was spent catching up on Brothers and Sisters (great TV show BTW!!!! Second behind Parenthood!), and cleaning up around the house. We are hosting a pool party this weekend, and I'm busy getting everything all ready...but what does that entail?
Finally attacking that laundry heap on my bed. Cleaning the floors. Reorganizing the fridge. Window sills? Yep, I'll hit those up tomorrow. Basically getting the house ready for the fall season. Fall...booooooo....
Whenever this time of year hits, I get a little sad. I love the summer, but it is the reminder that the end is near. Time to put away the bikinis and swimsuits and bring out the boots and tights. Although it is a lovely time of year (and my favorite), I still get a little blue whenever it comes near. I am getting ready to head into my coaching season (try-outs on Monday!), and then comes the first day of school...good bye lazy days of summer, hello fall!
But alas, it is not quite the crisp New England fall season yet, and I am taking every opportunity to carpe diem. Every morning spent outside with my coffee and doggies, every afternoon is spent floating with my kindle (just finished The Help...loved it! now on to Sarah's Key, I guess I'm finally getting to last year's book club selections!), and night time bonfires and BBQ's.
Take a moment and enjoy your outdoors this week. I'll be prepping for a pool party, and tackling my to do list (which includes many things to prep for fall too...). Enjoy your surroundings and enjoy August.
