FAQ's

Who is the Admin Hosting the event?

I’m Aubrey/Aubs (or donationwayne) !! I use she/her pronouns!! This is the third time this event has run! You can find me on Discord, Tumblr, Twitter, BlueSky, and AO3.

Do I have to join the discord server? -> Server Here

It is not a requirement, but I figured it would be a nice place for people to discuss and brainstorm! Please let me know if you are planning on participating without being active in the server so I can add you to the list of users participating so you don't miss any announcements.

Can I participate as both an artist, gifmaker, and a writer?

Absolutely!!!

What ships are okay to write and draw?

As long as Buddie is the main ship, we love to see our favorite side ships (henren, madney, bathena, ur hearts desire, etc)

Is there a certain fic length?

No minimum or maximum word count. Write to your hearts content. We love to see it.

Can I make multiple creations per prompt? ABSOLUTELY!! Knock urself out !!

Do I have to participate in all four prompts?!

If you don’t have time (or even don’t want to) participate in all four prompts that is perfectly fine! I understand being busy and school/job, life, so if you can’t complete works for all four prompts no pressure at all!!! The point of this event is to have fun and create. There is no shame <3

When can I start working on the prompts??

Feel free to start writing or drawing as soon as you want !! But posting won’t begin until August (check the schedule for information regarding timelines!!!)

Is it okay to share snippets and WIPs of my art or fic??

feel free to share wips on social if you want !!! Just make sure to tag the event! ( #BuddieMonthAugust2026 )

Is collaboration allowed?

Of course!!!

Sharing fics and art for the prompts the week(s) of?

Feel free to share wherever you like! Please tag the blog or message me to let me know so I can reblog your work and add it to the Archive Collection!

Where do I post?

AO3 (for writers) and any other socials you want to share on!!!! (Tumblr, Insta, Twitter, Etc) I am considering creating a collection/event on AO3 (you may opt out of this if you’re not interested)

Is use of AI allowed?

No!

Please make sure to use Archive Warnings *Note: works containing incest, pedophilia, and rape/non-con for the sake of shock value will NOT be accepted into the event. I want to make this a safe space as possible for everyone!

SECONDARY NOTE** Aftermath of SA is allowed as long as everything is handled w/ care!!! I have no issue w/ that being used towards a prompt!!! (just no graphic SA for shock value/kink/etc.) I want to make the event safe for everyone as possible. Just make sure to use proper archive warnings.

Hey everyone!

You might noticed I didn't end up getting to run an event for January 2026 as intended! Had a lot of big life stuff/health stuff/family stuff going on, and completely forgot to give the tumblr page the update regarding that!

BUT

Buddie Month August 2026 will be going as planned, I intend to start prompt planning ASAP!!!!

SO BE ON THE LOOK OUT. I need to finish the 2025 masterposts (sorry for the delay i kinda forgot i never finished it oops) BUT please be on the look our for the August prompts!!!!

As Buddie Month 3.0 comes to a close (past tense it already did whoops) I've badly miscalculated my last week. I kind of thought there was one more week left in August, but time marches on regardless if I'm on planet earth or not.

ANYWAYS. I missed my final week post which makes me deeply sad BUT.

I just want to thank everyone who participated this year (Both in January and August). It was such a blast yapping with all of you, seeing the fandom support, etc.

I'll be working on the masterpost asap! If you're interesting in stuff from the previous two events you can check the pinned post! There's links to all of that.

If you're running late in posting your beautiful buddie month fic, HAVE NO FEARS. Post at your leisure and please make sure to tag me so I can add you to the masterpost and reblog your piece.

Patch Me Up

Buddie || 911 + H5-0 || 18k || Mature

Eddie Diaz just wanted a quiet life for himself and his son. His charming, infuriating, motorcycle-riding neighbour Buck, who shows up bleeding from mysterious "work accidents" and keeps breaking in to cook and pay his bills, seems determined to disrupt that. Convinced Buck is dangerous, Eddie keeps patching him up anyway. As Buck insinuates himself into their lives -and Eddie's bed- with home made food, toys and relentless care, Eddie finds himself falling hard, even as the evidence points to Buck being exactly the kind of criminal Eddie should avoid. The problem? Eddie might not care anymore.

Eddie exhales through his nose. “This morning, he broke into my house, made pancakes, and–” he scrubs a hand over his face. “–paid my bills.” Hen clutches her stomach. “Stop. The criminal paid your bills?” Eddie scowls. “He said I was bad with money.” “He’s not wrong,” Hen points out. “He wasn’t right either!” Eddie exclaims, and Lena’s cackle echoes through the bunk room. Lena leans forward, eyes dancing. “Let me get this straight. Hot, tattooed criminal neighbor gets shot, chooses your sad DIY medicine over an actual hospital, then plays housewife? And you’re mad?”

“Wait,” Buck says again, and Eddie hears the smile in it this time, low and a little worried. “So you were listening the whole time?” And there it is. The trap. He tries for cool detachment. “Didn’t exactly have a choice. Your phone decided I needed to be a part of your… whatever that was.” Buck laughs –soft, delighted, like Eddie’s just said something better than a joke. It’s unfair, the way it works on him, the way it makes his chest feel too tight. “Diaz,” Tommy cuts in, sharp and irritated, “maybe you can explain to him why calling out another man’s name during sex is a problem.” And maybe Eddie should. Maybe he should play along, take Tommy’s side for once, because it would be easy and safe and noncommittal. But instead, what comes out is, “I’m still stuck on the bed thing.”

I can't believe we're already in WEEK THREE of Buddie Month 3.0. That's literally so wild and it's been so exciting to see the fics, art, and gifs that have been created for the prompts the last two weeks (Do You Trust Me?" & Phone Call). If you missed the first two weeks (or would still like to create for either prompts) we would love to have you!!! It's never too late to join in. We've got a fun little discord server (although not necessary to join). Info is pinned to the buddie month profile! I accept late submissions (we don't talk about how behind I am on writing my phone fics lol) Mentioning as always this event is meant to be low pressure, so if you're running behind don't worry about it. Buck moved into the Diaz house and Eddie has returned to work following his recovery. They are more in sync with each other than ever and love being partners at home and at work. On one of their days off, Eddie receives an unexpected phone call from his Abuela - which causes some unspoken things to be addressed.

Set in an alternative season 5 and a sequel to It Feels Like Home Can be read as a standalone.
