I’m a little bit annoyed at popular humor that characterizes menstruation as the uterus throwing a fit because it wants a baby. no it doesn’t. here’s my alternative anthropomorphic script. it’s no less embarrassing but at least I’m right:
henchperson: uh, boss? You know how a couple weeks ago, me and the girls put up that barrier against invaders, extra thick, just like you asked?
boss: yes…
henchperson: one thing, though, boss…
boss: out with it.
henchperson: weeeel, the good news is no invaders.
boss: and the bad news?
henchperson: weeeeeel, we made it out of wet tissue again, boss. so we’re going to have to peel it off and put up a new one before it gets all nasty, see?
boss: why is everything wet tissue with you people? get that thing out of my sight!
what’s the rush?
The time will pass anyway

I think it's cute when depictions of our solar system include earth's moon. Like yeah sure the moon's invited. We just like her
Like simplified models that don't have Literally Everything just the planets. And our moon #OurMoon

i’m not against vaping, but man, vaping two inches from my face on the subway is a ridiculous asshole kind of move. this dude was billowing like he was auditioning for the role of haunted house fog machine. the humidity in the whole car changed, he was ruining haircuts. just jump starting the water cycle. condensation was dripping down my glasses. people were slipping off poles, it was chaos. it was like watching one man try to terraform the moon. a planet with one dense, root beer scented atmosphere blocking out the sun and choking all life.
i consider this a sort of prose poem to be honest

[Since writing the Scientific Guide, I’ve come to think of staying over your emotional center of gravity as the “sleepy hedgehog” model of emotion management. If you find a sleepy hedgehog in a chair you were about to sit in, you should
give it a name
sit peacefully with it in your lap
figure out what it needs
tell your partner about the need, so you can collaborate to help the hedgehog
Getting mad at the hedgehog or being afraid of it won’t help you or the hedgehog and you certainly can’t just shove it into your partner’s lap, shouting “SLEEPY HEDGEHOG!” and expect them to deal with all of its spiky quills. It’s your hedgehog. The calmer you are when you handle it, the less likely you are to get hurt yourself, or to hurt someone else.]
