“It’s not like they’ve told me what to call them by, yet.” Accelerator hasn’t even bothered to ask these creatures. Perhaps they were too anxious to approach him? That, or because Accelerator hasn’t bothered, they haven’t either.

Looking Elma up and down, the albino adjusted his grip on the modern cane, chewing on the side of his cheek. (He should really get some gum before he does damage). “No. Figured since I’m the ruler, may as well greet whoever decides to visit.” That, and to keep some tabs on people. He didn’t want anyone messing up the place. He decided to keep out that he was the new ruler, as it would dumb down the situation, he didn’t need doubts from people.

She withdrew her hand with a frown. “You’re the ruler?” She shouldn’t be surprised at his young age--Lin Lee Koo, her squadmate on planet Mira, was probably even younger and a genius, though probably not mature enough to rule over a town. She wondered if this young man were different in that sense. “Well, my apologies for not giving you due respect. I don’t intend to cause trouble here. I heard there was a library here with quite a bit of history, I was hoping I could learn a bit about Eternity and its culture,” she said. She was beginning to think maybe the hostility in his eyes were natural, rather than aimed at her. It would be a relief if that were true.

It seemed as if time had slowed down almost to a stop. What was minutes, felt like hours as he waited for the woman to return as said. Normally, the demon would have taken this opportunity to sneak in a nap and get some well needed rest, but something nagged in the back of his mind— this rooted unease, perhaps or was it regret— that forced him wide awake. He could only hope that she had not gotten into more danger on his behalf. The man should be conscious and on his feet by now…

He sighs to himself, lowering his chin onto folded arms. Was this going to the burden of his afterlife? Living in hiding because of his powers? It was no better than his younger years; what a bother. He was now convinced that karma was an unfair forced, or perhaps… just a little benevolent. Right then, a familiar voice reaches his ears— the very woman he awaited coming into view below him and calling out. 

❝ I’m here, ❞ he responds, sliding off the stack of boxes he sat upon and lands behind her. A yawn escapes him before he is able to continue, Teufel rubbing his eyes with a hand, ❝ …I assume it went well? ❞ 

Elma turned around and looked him up thoroughly. “Catching up on sleep?” She assumed from his errant eye-rub, “didn’t think you could with all the excitement.

“Anyway, it couldn’t have gone better.” If she were pettier, she would’ve mentioned that it could’ve gone better for her. Her ears almost fell off from all the scolding, but she needed to act the adult she was to remain a calm, neutral force. She tapped a heeled foot against the ground. “Do you want to tell me what happened now? I heard terrible rumors about you back there, but I think you’re the only one who knows the truth. it just depends on whether or not that’s the story you’re going to tell me.”

Another interpretation of one of Elma’s arts. Haven’t done one in a while. I’ve got a few more in mind I definitely wanna do. Also..I like shadowrunner more for an aura but killing machines has cooler effects.

“It’s the monsters at night that you should fear, not during the day.” Stating these words out loud, Accelerator made his way towards the other. His cane clicked across the ground and his shoulders were hunched. He didn’t know how many people came to Seedling Town before, but he may as well start keeping a record now.

That way he’ll know who’s responsible if they mess things up. Regardless, once he came to a stop, he looked the newcomer up and down.

“Who are you?”

Elma put a hand to her chin as she watched the dark blob. “If they’re harmless, then it doesn’t seem fair to call them monsters,” she concluded. So the city was like planet Mira; dangerous at night. She could protect herself when it came to being attacked but it would probably be better to leave beforehand. When she turned away from the melted shadow to face Accelerator, she held out a hand. “My name is Elma. Does my coming here offend?” His expression seemed a tad hostile, but it was hard to imagine what line she could’ve crossed.

His gaze avoids her own and settles onto the ground as she scolds him like a mother. She also seemed to have quite the handle on the situation, more so than he could ever have. No doubt, the woman has his silent praise. And as she explains her plans to him in whispers,Teufel comes to piece together just what she had in store.

❝ I understand, ❞ he replies after giving a nod. 

Although, he still cannot begin to fathom why she’s risking so much to help him, whom was practically a stranger and labeled a murderer. It was an incredibly kind act, he must thank her properly when they come to meet again; as well as explain everything that has occurred, but that was at a later time. For now, he must hide as directed.

When the moment is right, the demon dashes away quietly and finds himself in a secluded alley nearby where he’ll wait ( and rest ) until the other returns to him.

Elma made a mental note of the direction he took off in before her acting role began. She shrieked to attract the attention of the other woman, pointing in the direction opposite of her acquaintance. “What?” The portly woman said. “He took off again! He really was a criminal!” “I told you! Why didn’t you keep a better watch on that guy?! …” The tirade continued on for some time–it seemed it was Elma’s turn to get scolded. She tried to tune the whole thing out with a sigh. She didn’t usually let herself get pushed around like this, but if it meant doing the right thing then it had to be done.

In the end she was dragged along both to check on the comatose man’s health and on the search for the would-be criminal. It was hours before Elma could return to his hiding place. “Hello? Sir?” Calling out too loud would alert the citizens, so she kept her voice low as she looked for his exact position. “Sir?”

He hears the woman’s exchange with the other, but he’s hardly attentive to their conversation. Rather, his attention lies focused on when exactly would be the right timing to make a run for it. His experiences from younger years, living a life in the shadows and on the run, had resurfaced now as second-nature. Perhaps, the older woman would get distracted to the point where she will not notice his leave or better yet, use the advantage to reach forward and get one single touch—

The numb weight on his shoulder snaps him back to the present, eyes turning towards the white-haired lady whom spoke of something he just barely missed. Wait, they were headed back – Is she really going to try to prove his innocence? While it would be a kind effort, he’d rather not return to a crowd of judging eyes— but, it seemed there was no option to protest. The pull on his wrist yanks at the bones of his shoulder, which undoubtedly still hurt from using his powers earlier, sending a dull pain his arm… ouch.

❝ Um — ❞ He starts, looking down at the grip she held upon his wrist; he’s about to complain but come to shake the thought from his head. Continuing now in a whisper, he explains to his captor, ❝ That m-man is going to look like he’s dead for a long wh-while. He won’t wake up, no matter what h-happens. ❞ They won’t believe him.

❝ You shouldn’t trouble y-yourself for my sake. Let me handle the woman too, she wouldn’t know what came over her. ❞ Although, she does seem to be looking back at them warily.

“No, you can’t handle her.” Elma responded firmly. It was hard to keep her voice down when answering a threat like that. “I barely want to know what you did to this other guy, but I’ll have to get the details from you later.” She had to rethink if it was worth helping the guy--she didn’t know anything about him, and if he were performing criminal acts, maybe he really was a villain. Still... he deserved a chance. And if he admitted to doing wrong when Elma confronted him later, then she could punish him herself. There was no need to have an entire crowd pounce on him. “Right now I need you to hide. I’ll misdirect everyone,” she whispered, “and I’ll come get you when everything’s clear. Do you understand me? Stay hidden, and stay quiet.”

Despite Emil’s nervousness from accidentally walking into the stranger, perhaps…? He didn’t want to impose himself, that wasn’t right at all after-all. However, perhaps company was what Emil needed. More like, someone to talk to, to help him process. Though, he didn’t want to bog her down. His problems were his own, despite the need to talk.

A small sigh and a nod. “I-I don’t know much about this place. B-But… Do you mind if I follow you for a little bit?” He rubbed his arm nervously.

Shy, was he? Then it must be especially difficult for him to start over and make new friends. Elma put on a reassuring smile. “Do as you like. I haven’t been here long either, but I can tell you what I do know. Have you seen your room yet?” As she began walking, she looked back to see if Emil followed. “The name’s Elma, by the way.”

Well, that should have answered the other’s question. He rears his head, immediately turning attention turns towards the hostile woman with great unease. He needed to explain himself; fast. But what the hell could he even say? Nearly everyone in that bazaar was convinced the demon had practically murdered the man— did his opinion even matter at this point?

❝ A-Ahahhh— ❞

His voice cracked and only bubbled forth with laughter, which might have appeared as if the entire ideal was a mere joke to him. Ah, if only he wasn’t so terrible in these kinds of situations. Beads of sweat trailed down the sides of his face, Teufel still at a loss— his female acquaintance also looked expectantly at him, not helping in the slightest. The bands in his eyes might as well spiral uncontrollably now…

‘Just as I thought, nothing to say for yourself! You’re guilty as charged. Get ready to pay for your crimes!’

❝ I-I did n-not assault him! H-Honest! Eheh… ❞ He blurts out, ❝ The m-man is j-j-just… unconscious! He f-fell on his o-own. ❞ 

“Everyone SAW what you did!” The other woman answered, anger sprouting in her voice. Elma didn’t let go of the look she was giving Teufel for a good minute; if her unamused expression had meaning, it was well hidden. She turned towards the accuser and put a hand on her hip. “Is the man okay?” “What? W-well I don’t know, I had to keep track of this guy before he got away.” “I think the most important thing is to check on his health, no matter what caused it. Let’s return to the scene, shall we?” Elma turned towards Teufel again. “And if you’re really innocent, you wouldn’t mind coming with us, right?” She puts a hand on his shoulder again for comfort, and slips the grip down onto his wrist, pulling him along. The portly woman glared, but complying with Elma’s wishes walked ahead of them.

This place… He’d pretty much gotten used to it by now. The people, the many souls coming by and leaving, everything. Even how the wind felt in this place. It was the only thing that helped during this, and Zaveid knew it’d lead him to the ones he was looking for someday.

But, honestly? They needed to stop confusing him. And this lady… well, he was already backing off a bit, pendulums in his grip. It took him a minute to calm down, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Sorry ‘bout that. I’m a little jumpy today.”

Elma stepped back and withdrew her dual guns, not quite pointing them at the man, but ready to go into action. She gave a sigh of relief when he backed down, putting the twin weapons away on her belt. “Jumpy...? You should try to be more careful. If I were as jumpy as you were, I might’ve shot you.” She didn’t want to leave it on that note, though. Zaveid didn’t need to assume so early on that she was angry or unfriendly. So she followed up her scolding with a question. “Though, I’ve never seen a weapon like yours. How does it work?”

Emil was crestfallen. Granted, that woman from before was.. well.. informational slightly. However, the thoughts kept swirling around his head. Demise? Passage? Erased Memories? What was going on? She was hospitable and kind at least. That Emil was certain of, thanks to the given bag of stuff…Though she seemed sad, and it bugged Emil to a certain degree. He assumed Passing meant he died. Wasn’t he supposed to return to Ratatosk if he did? Or did something very bad happen. He couldn’t remember. Well she did say some memories are erased.

Emil had been wandering, somewhat quite idle, lost in thoughts before bumping into a female. He snapped out of it and took paces back.

“I-I’m sorry. I-I didn’t mean to walk into you.” a stammered apology leaving him rapidly. Great, just what he needed, to be accidentally running into people thanks to his innability to think and watch where he was going.

“You’re not the first,” the woman reassured. “You look a little….” sad. “…lost. I can keep you company, if you prefer. I was going to grab a cup of coffee.” It was sobering to see people so young here in Eternity. Elma may have looked the same age, but she was far older in her true form–she’d gotten to live a full life. Of course, it wasn’t just that she pitied him. She didn’t have many friends yet in Amaranth. It would be nice to avoid the cold and have a chat with someone.

Hey keys. Her keys are not on her hip right now and she was freaking the hell out right now.

“Awww ‘really!? I just set them out to be polished literally a second agooooo.”

She was tearing her room apart, trying to find some glint of her keys. Throwing her clothes, her various accessories, basically causing a huge ruckus.

“Where are my keys? Maaaan they’re going to be so mad at me.”

She then heard a knock at her door. Lucy froze. She hasn’t really gone outside since she got here, mainly because she’s still freaked out that she still can’t remember how she got her…but she wasn’t raised to be rude, so she went to answer the door.

Opening the door, “I’m so sorry for causing so much noise! I promise to quiet it down!”

“Relax, I’m not going to yell at you,” said the person waiting behind the door. In order to investigate the cause of the noise, Elma couldn’t help but try to glance around Lucy’s figure. There were a few items laying haphazardly about, but no real sign as to why. It hardly looked like redecorating, unless Lucy had very poor taste.

“Looks like we’re neighbors. I take it you don’t usually make this kind of noise… is there something I can help you with?” It was better to handle the problem now rather than put up with the sound.

With such a collision, his head would’ve ached terribly from the impact had he not been accustomed to pain. However, it did not spare him from the blood that dribbled down his nose and to his chin. He hardly needed to inspect it to know he was bleeding, as that happened far too often as well— now that he thinks about it though, without the Princess’ constant beatings, it has been a while.

❝ I-I… I’m f-fine, ❞ he answers, attempting to suppress a round of giggles through a forced grin. Except, he wasn’t fine at all. The demon must have made quite the expression as his lips twisted oddly, overly hesitant while partly stained with blood. Yet, who could blame him? There was a stranger at such close proximity and then those who chased him couldn’t have been far behind either. 

Ah and he couldn’t forget about his now stiff shoulders too. 

But, that was all about him. He had come to notice the woman had been injured by his clumsiness, to which he offers an apology and a handkerchief from the pocket of his suit, ( he wasn’t going to use it for himself, anyways ).  ❝ Ahah… Sorry about t-that. P-Please take t-this… ❞

“Are you sure?” She asked out of etiquette, taking the cloth regardless of an answer. She could wipe off the blood but subtle red stains would remain on her skin until she showered. “I appreciate it. But why were you running around like that?” Elma stared at him harder. The guy might’ve been odd with his expression and his stutter, but his eyes didn’t look like he was taking drugs. She realized he must’ve been running away from something, a thought that was proven right when another portly woman appeared on the scene, pointing a finger straight at Elma’s new acquaintance.

“You! What are you doing assaulting people?! You think you can just get away with it?” Elma raised a brow and waited for further explanation.

A scream pierces the air like a shrill arrow, attracting the eyes of bustling passersby to the situation by the edge of the market stalls. A man had fallen to the cobbled ground almost lifelessly in front of him, an expression frozen into a state of shock as drivel oozed from a gaped mouth. He could hear the rise of chatter from the circle of viewers behind him, questions wildly thrown about in whispers— ‘Is he dead?’ ‘What did that man do?’ ‘Someone call for authorities!’

His heart began to race inside his chest, yet another part of it felt as if it had sunk to the bottom of his feet. It was accidental, really; the reaction was subconscious and out of self-defense. The man was claiming, far too publicly, that the demon had stolen an item— What else was he supposed to do in turn? Interactions were not his forte. And besides, the man is not dead; just, unconscious… for a long time. Now, there were too many witnesses, too many strangers with judging eyes burning into his back. 

So he runs.

❝ AHHH— !! ❞

Teufel dashes out of the area through an open space, running blindly down the road and towards The Core without looking back. Obscenities were shouted, but they soon died out with distance, while few gave chase to catch the new face on a wanted poster. Honestly, he just wanted to buy some snacks… But there was no time to further dwell on that, having been so occupied with the thought of escape, Teufel failed to see another person in his line of sight until he collided with them head on. 

The sudden clunk was enough to destroy Elma’s usual grace, sneding her falling backward onto her rump. She put a hand to her nose, now bleeding, bleeding actual blood unlike the robotic mimeosome she occupied during her life. It might’ve been a good feeling if she could think straight, but as it was her head was exploding with stars. When her vision cleared, she took note of the bullet she collided with. He was disheveled and given the shouts from before, it pointed to one thing--he was in some sort of trouble. She stood up and put a hand on his shoulder, hoping to calm him. “Are you alright?”

He was quite obviously an adult, from the build in his body to his height. However what sounded was the scream of a young boy, high pitched and just as alarming. “Nooooooooo waaaaaaay!” It could be heard from a distance, as if heralding his arrival. Within a few moments Zack could finally be seen, running at top speed.

He came to a sliding stop in front of the stranger. As they were the first person he saw in this area. It seemed to be bad luck on their part. Zack hurriedly looked around for a moment, before focusing on them. “Hey, I’m really sorry, like super sorry to bother you but have you seen my sword? I may have sort of kind of forgotten it somewhere around here.”

He reached behind his head, to pull a hand through the spikes of his black hair. Zack offered his best smile to the person he was currently troubling at the moment. “Aha, I should probably tell you what it looks like right. Well, it’s pretty big, and it’s you know, a sword. It’s called the buster blade actually.”

Elma put a hand on her hip as she analyzed the man before her. He was tall and fit, but his face was soft with a smile. Not to mention only a klutz would lose their weapon and describe it like he was looking for a lost puppy. He couldn’t possibly be a threat. “No, no swords around here. Besides mine,” she said. It was interesting his sword had a name. Elma had never felt that kind of attachment to her weapons--although she had an old friend who did. “I assume you were training here before you lost it? I can always help you look.” Assuming nobody took the blade while it was lying around.

Amaranth wasn’t exactly being hospitable. On her Elma's first week here, there was chaos. She was uncertain of how to help, so she'd ended up staying indoors as the news suggested. She supposed that without a commander or a squad, she was at a loss of what to do.  The only reason her inaction didn’t cause her guilt was because there were no causalities. And after the weirdness, there was snow. Elma was used to the cold but there was an extent to how much one could handle; not to mention, the stuff made it difficult to walk, no matter who you were. It was because of her need for fresh air she was here, in the white dusted marketplace. If she hadn’t been cooped up the week before, she would’ve just stayed home. An abrupt shouting shook Elma from her thoughts. Something was going on further down the Bridge Walk.

Happy Thanksgiving guys. I’m really grateful for all you guys here and for all the friends I’ve made in this fandom. You’re all great and I love you. Tomorrow marks the start of the Christmas season so I felt inspired to do some festive doodles. This is the only reason I keep those fashion catalogs from the mail around. In case I want to draw something seasonal and festive. I’ll do more of the cast throughout the month.
