got tested for the sleepytired and it came back positive
what really gets me about the ubiquity of the short form video scrolling interface is that it is functionally packaging the concept of flipping through TV channels. it is quite literally a microcosm of the image that we used to use to demonstrate the most tedious and honestly mindless state of boredom. how does anyone enjoy this.
I'm gonna need people who eat meat to stop coping and just say that you like eating meat and you're not going to stop because you don't want to. It's literally fine and it's way less embarrassing than the hoops some of you are trying to jump through to act like eating meat is the moral high ground
"Ummm actually it's racist to say people shouldn't eat meat because some indigenous cultures rely heavily on hunting" almost every culture on Earth relies heavily on hunting or livestock rearing. Basically every American holiday revolves around what type of meat you're eating. My 99% white high school had to schedule around the start of hunting season because so many people took off for it. Stop acting like indigenous people are uniquely connected to eating meat so you can play the racism card.
Also, "but that's my culture" is never an excuse to do something harmful! If you want to argue that eating meat isn't harmful, then argue that instead of trying to hide behind a veneer of social justice.
"What so you think humans are unique moral agents who are exempt from the natural food chain? Do you think it's evil for a lion to eat a rabbit?" uhhhhhhhhh do you NOT think humans are moral agents? Is "would a lion do this" a standard of behavior we're willing to accept in literally any other circumstance?
I agree that humane hunting and livestock rearing practices are not evil acts! But a) you need to fucking argue that point instead of acting like only a crazed evangelist vegan would expect someone to care whether or not their actions are harmful, and b) 99% of the people making this argument are NOT practicing humane hunting or farming, they're just saying "oh yeah? well what about humane practices?" and then buying their meat from factory farms that torture animals to death while destroying the environment.
Which - again, so am I! But at least I'm not acting like people are oppressing me for acknowledging the basic reality of the situation.
If you spend enough time in the vegan discourse trenches you realize that for most non-vegans, as long as one objection to veganism remains undebunked, you can safely assume that none of the objections have been debunked and continue to use them.

reading robin hobb's liveship trilogy right now and it is so good. sentient ship is one of my most favorite tropes but it is sadly rare
lol the writer I had in mind when I reblogged that post about the pittfalls of cozy fantasy responded to the post and included a plug for one of their books as a counter example. buddy ur part of the problem
God I have been struggling so much to explain my irritation with a certain trend I keep running across in LGBTQ+ "cozy fantasy books"
Because everytime I try to verbalize it, it just comes out as sounding like I'm trying to say there's like. An upper limit on how daydreamy an author can be about worlds in which their every fantasy is fulfilled (entire farming village based on mutual aid; where also everyone is queer and/or gender-conforming! And there is little to no conflict! And everyone knows therapy speak and is unfailingly kind and generous and good!)
Because like--there's not, really, an upper limit on these things.
But there is an invisible line of tolerance for me where it turns from "cozy fantasy" to "oh my god grow the fuck up; this is so saccharine it's become one-note and boring and dull that I can't actually ENJOY the low-stakes cozy vibes"
But it sounds like I'm complaining about "there's too many gender queers and not enough homophobia in this book" and it's Not That
Ugh idk take your 2 stars and let me delete this book off my Kobo, I finished it and that's honestly more than I think it deserved.
(a 4.07 average star rating are you FUCKING kidding me)
in a fair world liz warren would've had the momentum that bernie did but alas
Tonight’s fact: Astronauts need roughly one day of rehabilitation for each day they spend in space. I also need a full day to recover after each day at my job, so they’re not special for this.
“Do it scared” “do it alone” are all great tips, but my biggest takeaway from therapy is do it messy. This is especially true if you’re getting out of a burnout, which I experience often. Literally just do it messy. You don’t need to pick the perfect trail to walk, the perfect playlist to listen to, whatever the fuck it is. You don’t need to have a meticulous to do list and wake up at the exact time you planned and drink the exact amount of water you planned to drink. Like the biggest thing for people like me to remember is sometimes it’s okay to do it messy. Put on a random yt workout and just get it done in sweats. Do 5 minutes of a daunting task and go from there. Sometimes just getting up is a win during intense burnouts or depressive funks. Literally just do it messy.
