i think with how many jokes we make about pride and how happy we are about it, we need to understand why we have it. to appreciate people who lost their lives or are currently losing their lives for being themselves. remember the people who fought to give us the rights we have today. there are still so many people who are homophobic or transphobic, and that is what we need pride for. it is our job to be proud of ourselves so the bigots don’t win. show them we’re not going away. pride month is about loving yourself and others no matter their sexuality

The cops very clearly planted evidence on him because they had to make an arrest because all eyes were on them and whoever actually did the deed was making them look stupid.

Why would the real killer hero have kept the weapon on his person and traveled two states over while carrying it and a manifesto in his bag, conveniently turning the crime into a federal matter? The same guy whose bag they found in a park, filled with monopoly money? Why did the police turn off their bodycams, take Luigi's stuff, drive a block away, turn their bodycams back on, go back into the restaurant, and then arrest him?

From the moment of his arrest, even left-of-center media has been presuming his guilt without examining anything (e.g. calling him "the killer" instead of "alleged" or "accused") and then when I say he didn't do it, the nearest person chimes in with some quip that tells me they think he did do it but should go free anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would have the same attitude if he had done it. But he didn't. It makes me feel like the only sane person in the world, even among my staunchly leftist friends.

Not everyone is going to make the same choices I do. Which is perfectly fine. And I imagine I will still go to some games. But I do encourage everyone who is disappointed or upset to volunteer, donate, or spread the word for grass roots organizations in Detroit. The Ruth Ellis center is a great place to start. If you have more suggestions please add them!

Dear PWHL Detroit Management,

I write to you as a devote women’s hockey fan who has gone to every single expansion game and put down a deposit for season tickets, to express how deeply disappointed I am that Britta Curl Salemme has been added to the Detroit PWHL roster.

Britta Curl has engaged with online intolerance against the black community and the trans community. Last season she partnered with a faith based organization that aims to keep trans women out of sports. This is unacceptable to the community. It is unacceptable in Detroit which has a long history of with the black lgbt community.

It breaks the heart of myself and other fans who hoped PWHL Detroit would love and protect the LGBTQ+ community. However, this decision has made it clear that PWHL Detroit does not have an interest in supporting the LGBTQ+ community. The deliberate choice to sign Britta Curl when every stadium in the league boos her and makes it clear why, shows that this organization will not protect LGBTQ+ fans.

I will be unfollowing PWHL Detroit on all social medias, I will not buy merchandise, and I will not buy season tickets, while Curl and any other player openly associated with transphobia is on the team.

when a government bans young people from using social media, and then categorises messenger apps like Signal and WhatsApp as "social media", they are pushing those young people toward using text messages, a fundamentally insecure form of communication. texts are not encrypted in transit and can be read by both the sender's mobile carrier and the recipient's. that also means they can be leaked in data breaches, subpoenaed, or just handed over willingly to law enforcement at the carriers' discretion.
