The chocolate fig tarts are delicious because they have rich chocolate, sweet, juicy figs, and flaky puff pastry on the outside. They are a classy dessert that can be served at any event.
Ingredients: 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed. 1/2 cup chocolate chips. 3 fresh figs, sliced. 1 egg, beaten. 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, for dusting.
Instructions: Before you start cooking, heat the oven to 375F 190C. Cut the puff pastry into three squares that are all the same size. Put the puff pastry squares on a baking sheet that has parchment paper on it. Leave a border around the edges of each puff pastry square and sprinkle chocolate chips on top of them. Put the chocolate chips on top of the sliced figs. Fold the squares of puff pastry in half along the long edges to make a crust that goes around the filling. Beat an egg and brush it around the edges of the pastry to make them golden. The pastry should be baked in a hot oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until it is golden brown and crispy. Take it out of the oven when it's done and let it cool down a bit. Before you serve, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
