however annoyed by an elden ring boss you are, remember, they're more annoyed by you. you're a lord or god or something, 15ft tall because you're a legend, hanging out behind your Fog Wall and some goddamn little duende saunters in with 5 different glowing effects around her. she rings a stupid little gnome bell and summons the ghost of some other weird cryptid. she hits you, ok not much damage, no problem. you hit her and she seems about halfway dead. she has a little sippy of her Duende Juicebox. She has precognition of how you move so she dodges 12 swipes in a row. you finally hit her again, this time hard. she takes a little sippy of her Duende Juicebox. she's Rudely stubbing your toe this whole time because she can't reach any higher than your shin. she seems to only know like 2 moves. you completely lose track of how many Sippies of her Duende Juicebox she takes after her seventh. as you tire, she seems cheerful and full of energy, ever sipping on her goddamn Duende Juicebox. you finally kill her. she enters through the fog again. this continues forever until you die

A lot of the really funny moments in Lord of the Rings come from Tolkien playing with language like this, where we have relatively formal, archaic, “high” language responded to with informal, modern, “low” language.

I've said it before but I really love FromSoft's approach to releasing games and DLC.

They say "hey, we're making a game", then go silent for a few years, media publications start going crazy, theorize that the lack of any news regarding the game means it's been silently shelved and cancelled (understandably, because that's usually what no news means from big profile games), and then suddenly FromSoft reappears from the fog after literal years of radio silence, they say "hey we made the game, here's a date for an open net test, and two weeks later we're releasing the full game".

Then, they say "hey, we're making DLC for the game", then they go radio silent for over a year, media publications are uncertain about the fate of the DLC, and then FromSoft reappears from the fog as they are wont to, say "hey, we're almost done, look forward to it" and they go back to work in that fucked up workshop of dreams and nightmares of theirs. As it should be.
