Come on, dance with me. A pause. A few seconds of silence as the song changed. A wordless question and Sirius tightened his grip. Just enough that the pull against Remus’s scalp forced his mouth open, letting out a low groan and a cloud of smoke. Remus dug his thumb into the soft skin beside the bone, and Sirius arched against him. Yeah, I want you to get nasty, nasty.

He was always afraid, just at the edges, that it might all disappear, that Voldemort’s return would shake his world again into a crumbled foundation, but then he’d see the quirk of Harry’s mouth when he was trying not to laugh, or the gleam in Hope’s eyes when she talked about music, or the tip of Remus’ head when he was going to come in close for a kiss, and he knew that he would die before he had any of it taken away from him ever again.

Finally, Sirius couldn’t stand the suspense any longer. “It can’t possibly be that bad, Moons. What happened?” James snickered as Remus covered his face and let out an anguished groan. James took over in Remus’s embarrassed silence. “You know how I’ve been training Moons in gentle strengthening and functional movement? To help his Ehlers-Danlos?” “Yeah. Obviously.” Of course Sirius knew. He was the one who sent Remus the links with the data to support the recommendations after James’s source of “trust me, bro” was, unsurprisingly, ineffective. They’d been friends for a decade and still Prongs somehow didn’t know that the best way to bend Remus to his will was to give him peer-reviewed evidence. “Well, I advanced him from hanging flutter kicks to knee raises, and suddenly…” James twitched and gasped in an imitation of…something. If Sirius didn’t know better, he’d think it was supposed to look like he came. “What does that mean? What are you doing?”

The next time Remus thought to visit Baked, he was, indeed, baked. He’d rolled himself a joint earlier that day to kick off his weekend, a prize for getting through the work week relatively unscathed, but it was only once the weed had taken full effect that he realized he was out of desserts. This was a problem, because High Remus loved desserts even more than Sober Remus, and he typically made an effort to have something around for cases such as these. Luckily, there was a brand new bakery a mere two blocks from his apartment building, staffed by a very nice man who gave him free things. OR: Remus Lupin discovers a new bakery, makes a fool of himself, and bonds with the owners despite his unfortunate habit of coming in while he has the munchies.

Remus had tried to make a quick dash inside to get the remote and was instantly thwarted by a swarm of bees, though he did manage to blow the candle out before it could possibly burn his house down or attract even more of them, and he’d strongly considered pulling the plug out out and hiding the cursed thing beneath a bush. The second his hands had gone to his waistband, though, he’d realized that the nosy woman next door was staring at him through the window, at which point he’d abandoned the idea completely. The last thing he needs is a public indecency charge for getting caught with his pants down and a bejeweled plug sticking out of his arse.
