“i’m glad you wouldn’t.” with somewhat of an assurance in her tone of voice, rylah couldn’t help but chuckle lowly, to herself. it was almost flattering, the way that whatever it was that rylah would put into the conversation, harlow would make sure to address to it properly. it was their thing after all: talk deep about a thing even though not much details were given. there was no need for harlow to state directly that the reason why she did not want rylah to back away was because she cared: rylah knew that already. there was something between the two of them that did not need direct words and yet they completely understood one another. with a smile that came after harlow’s recognition of her own walls being up, the brunette paid full attention to her, not looking away for a second - because she knew that it might be sensitive for her. “it is a nice way out of it… or into it, actually.” she shrugged: it was brave of her to turn that pain into something, to choose to do something about it. “sometimes we don’t need to run away from things that hurt us.” it was a complex thing to say, and even more complex to share with people: in a society fulfilled with the seek happiness mindset, not many would understand.
rylah was caught off guard with harlow’s question, so clearly she could feel her cheeks redden. “my professionalism is blurred each time you come by, harlow.” she admits, with a soft laugh. “i never want people to get hurt, and yet, i do hope you hurt yourself so i can see you once more. what does that has to say about my professionalism?” she asks, wondering if harlow would feel offended by that, somehow. still… the injuries weren’t always that bad when she stopped by, so rylah did have some hope. “if there was a way to see you without the injuries, what should we do with the intimacy we so softly built throughout those nights?”
“who else is going to ensure i won’t turn into a big, walking scar at the end of the day, hm?” harlow had to lighten it somehow, almost uncomfortable with how certain jokes and comments actually got her so close to admitting she thought of rylah more than just someone to patch her up. and whilst she usually had no issue admitting such to herself, it sometimes also caught up to her. she’s navigated this world pretty much on her own since very young, and it’s hard to admit forming a bond with someone when you’ve never been used to it. and still, it seemed rylah understood and didn’t push, which is precisely why it worked so well. the respect between them, even if you cannot fully understand each other. a small nod followed, along with a brow quirking in surprise. “true, although.. i fear i’ve allowed it to become my identity. the hurt, the fighting.. as if going back to it was also a form of running away.” and more fearful to admit would be that since rylah, she imagined herself on a path different from her current one.
as to not make the other uncomfortable, harlow bit back a smile at seeing her cheeks redden. her own heart picking up pace in a way not unlike right before an important match. “fair point.. perhaps i sometimes allow my opponents a few kicks and punches just so i can see you, too. what does that say about my professionalism?” followed by a genuine, soft laugh. she felt like a fool. like they were both fools. “you realise that you’re asking someone with no actual experience when it comes to… this?” still, she allows herself to express a small dream she’s had, looking over at rylah curiously as she speaks, “perhaps the time spent patching me up could be spent on.. doing something together. watching a movie, going for a walk or even doing some glow mini golf for all i care. i don’t care what it’d be as long as it’s.. us.”
how could she not put up with harlow for so long? her presence, the entire event she would make whenever she arrived to rylah's, the way she wouldn't even move when facing hurt, as if she trusted rylah enough to just know she would never hurt her... although she hated that the other woman would always show up hurt, she would always love these moments of theirs. "should i back down, then?" the brunette playfully asks, even though harlow's response wouldn't change a thing on her behaviour. her smile almost instantly threw a spark to rylah's whole body, which responded with a smile back, absentmindedly. "i've never really asked you why you do this, have i?" rylah was never one to judge the other's decisions on life, and perhaps that was the reason why she had never asked. still, with some more intimacy between them, she felt a bit more confident to ask and not feel like she was interfering in something she shouldn't. "i was about to say that i prefer that you did not have to face hurt that much in order to have a unique definition of it..." she begun, and then looked down to her own hands, recalling perfetcly how it moved to heal her. "but then i would be lying, wouldn't i?" she confessed, with a soft smile, looking back at harlow. "if you did not have a definition of your own, it would mean i would never have the opportunity to take care of you."
it almost seemed as if harlow was contemplating her decision, even going as far as to look up and tap her chin absentmindedly for added dramatics, “preferably not. i don’t think i’d let you.” would be her final answer. it was true that she had started feeling more.. attached, as of late. often wondering whether she could simply drop by without needing to be hurt to do so, or whether that’d be odd. this was their thing after all, their rhythm. “you haven’t, perhaps also because i’ve not been open enough for you to feel free to ask.” so what changed? she could definitely feel it, but she could hardly wrap her mind around it. “i started this as a way to work through my anger and to make the pain that was already inflicted on me worth it.. it earns a lot, you know. so at least i’ve got something in return now.” and as she offered pieces of her own, harlow listened intently to the pieces rylah had to offer. even she could not help the soft smile that appeared, noting the way she felt like reaching out. “and what if you didn’t have to take care of me in order to see me? what then?” perhaps daring, but harlow had to dig a little, had to find out. “or is it merely your professionalism that does not enjoy seeing this much hurt?”
it seemed like regina was perfect for her. a woman who knew what she wanted, and knew when to make herself scarce. perhaps the two of them met in another life and fit together like puzzle pieces, the same way they were then. she was everything that ava needed... seemingly intelligent, hotter than anyone she's ever seen, and willing to be as discreet as needed. not to mention the fact that ava had this sense that the two of them would end up experiencing something more euphoric than she could even fathom... but that was getting ahead of herself, wasn't it? "you are quite the minx, aren't you?" she murmured, as if it was an answer to her question. ava had held herself in high esteem over most people, but she couldn't help but grin at the attention she was getting and at the somewhat confused man that practically bolted out of the elevator. her arms wrapped around the other's neck, gently playing with her hair at the back of her head. "i'm glad we're on the same page. besides, i'm not from here... so, you wouldn't be seeing me again, anyway." the connection between them was electric, ava knew that. she already felt like she'd be searching for someone who made her feel so alive in the future. either way, she tugged the other towards herself. "so that's your only rule?" she teased, glancing down at her lips before firming her grip at the back of her neck and greedily pulling her in for a kiss.
regina simply could not help herself trying to decode the woman in front of her. finally, a challenge. her thoughts were interrupted at the sensation of ava playing with her hair. such an innocent touch, but it clearly affected her: with jaws clenching and eyes averting – even if for only a few seconds. “many have told me the same thing, only to show up again.” she felt herself gravitating towards the blonde, needing her as close as possible. and with a sharp remark already on her tongue, all words were lost when their lips touched. reggi kissed back eagerly, hands finding ava’s hips to pull her in even closer. fingertips purposeful, but not enough to leave marks that would last – forever a fine balance. however, she could not help but bite the other’s lip and give a soft pull before entirely releasing when she vaguely sensed the elevator open. she walked out as if nothing happened, though her eyes and shallow breathing betrayed her. “i also have the rule that no one is allowed to touch or undress me.. but i’ll lift that just this once. feeling special yet? ..-” her signature grin appeared again, hands dipping towards the hem of her shirt, “-.. if not, consider this an extra present.. and also a way to urge you to take me to your room quickly.” it was quickly taken off, revealing a bra that didn’t leave much to the imagination. clearly uncaring for the fact that they were in a hallway and that anyone could see, confident in her skin and the situation.
whenever it was this late and rylah would get a knock on her door, she would instantly know who it was: it had become an habit for the two of them to meet up like this, with the intimacy of the moonlight. "well, it's been some months now..." she replies with a soft smile, taking another one of her round cottons and softly wiping up a dry blood that stood next to harlow's eyes. one thing about patching her up was getting to look at her, in detail, without her noticing that the looks weren't only searching for more injuries. as she finished, rylah sat down next to her, listening her own unique definition of hurt, and offering a chuckle as a reply, specially when she said that this wasn't the answer she wanted. "definitely not. but an answer quite harlow-ish." she laughs. "hurt is a consequence if everything goes well. and it is a burden if it doesn't. is it like that?" she asks, curious. wasn't it fun how rylah's work was to take care, while harlow's was getting hurt?
whilst getting patched up itself wasn’t necessarily nice, the softness of rylah’s touch and her entire presence definitely was. and whilst harlow isn’t the type to trust easily, but she knew rylah was more than deserving of it. “mhm. i’m surprised you’ve been able to put up with me for so long.” her eyes fell shut for a moment, allowing the other to do as needed, almost leaning into the touch. almost. “it seems your expectations of me have been set too high.” harlow couldn’t help the wide smile that appeared as she opened her eyes again, curiously gazing at the other. whilst joking along, these answers did hold a definition of some insecurities, even if she would never admit it. the fighter so entirely different when not inside the ring. “exactly. perhaps i view things the way i do because pain has never scared me and i have dealt with it all my life.. and yes, i’m aware that is an unhealthy way to live. but that’s where you come in.” a soft, playful nudge followed as harlow’s smile slowly faded. “what would you prefer my definition to be?”

"when were you going to tell me?" she had a habit of being able to figure out how to break into people's homes. only for more information, really, but this time she had intended to be dramatic. to sit in the dark until the other showed up. sitting there for hours, stewing on the new information she had gathered. as they walked into the room, she tossed them a file folder with photographic evidence. scowling slightly. "did you really think i wouldn't find out? how stupid do you think i am, babe?"
perhaps her initial reaction should’ve been to act more frightened, but adriana had clearly missed that cue when townes spoke up and she didn’t even flinch. still, she knew better than to speak and as her eyes quickly scanned the files upfront, she couldn’t help but let out a shaky breath. of course she’d found out about her habit of going after and dealing with people seemingly able to get off the hook no matter the heinous crimes they’ve committed.. dealing in a way the other could not commit crimes ever again. “well shit.. look, i’m not going to toss you the cliché i can explain.. you deserve and know better than that.” adriana bit her lip, fully aware now of what consequences could follow and she truly did not fancy herself a new position as some kind of prison wife. perhaps stupid to get with townes, of all people, as she’s most capable of landing her in exactly that position. but she’d been hooked and the added thrill did something for her, too. “so, am i supposed to expect some kind of special forces barging through the doors about now? … what’s your next move, babe? what do you want from me?” after having seen what she’s capable of with criminals, adriana had half expected that townes wouldn’t even go for her herself.. but then, she doesn’t back down. she respects that and greatly distracts her from the seriousness of the situation. “must say i’m impressed.. i should’ve seen it coming.. hot.”
to be fair, claire expected to be called out for her selfish behavior. she knew that it was only a matter of time before dani expressed her raw emotions, and this time claire had no choice but to stand there and listen. she couldn't just pack up and run away until she felt like coming back. the tears flowed down her cheeks as her former lover let her have it. both claire and her husband had hurt several people in the process of climbing to the top of the social latter, and often justified it to feel better about their ruthlessness. the industries that they dominated were highly competitive and left no room for any type of grace or understanding. stepping on people to get what they wanted was second nature at this point, and both had avoided looking at the after effects until right recently. claire had always seen herself as a victim to the circumstances, refusing to take responsibility as if she had no choice but to act in the exact same ways others acted when she was just starting out. hurting people in her career field was one thing. hurting people she had a close personal relationship with was entirely different and so much worse.
"there's no excuse for it and no reasoning that would ever be good enough." her voice was much gentler in an attempt to show that she was speaking from the heart. blue eyes darted around dani's home again, really taking in the scenery and the beauty of it all. claire could've been a part of it. they could've grown together and changed the world, or at least their part of it. but she was too much of a coward to stand for what and who she actually wanted. "but ... i left because i wasn't as brave as you, dani. it was a different time, less tolerant, and i wasn't ready to be who i was in front of millions of people. so i did what i do best and ran away." a pause as she collected her thoughts. "jack and i hooked up one time when we were both at our lowest. next thing i know, i'm two months pregnant and throwing up before a shoot. everything just changed so fast after that." she had to take a break from talking to clear her throat and wipe her eyes. "see? bad excuse."
deep within, dani wanted to scoff at such a reply – but she also knew that this was what claire truly thought. she’d at least like to think she knows her well enough to know wen she’s being sincere, which is perhaps why she bolted in the first place. they knew each other better than anyone else did, perhaps that is still the case today. because even now, dani felt as if she could read her, could perhaps fill in the blanks herself.. however, she did not care to do so now. not when realising that her heart is still very much on the line.
before getting to what i owe: pls give me some thriller/horror threads, sprinkle in some stabbing and stalking or even some paranormal/occult themes.. you know, those things.
alright, so, things are going on & preventing me from getting into the right mindset to write. however, my muse is slowly coming back, so i hope i'll be able to write soon again! perhaps this weekend already.
so, apparently ims haven't been working. messages i'm sure i've sent over the past week have vanished. i've no idea what's going on considering some did send and others didn't, so i'm sure it isn't a shadowban. anyways, all seems to be working now so i'll be getting to those ims again tomorrow & apologies for the delay!

“I thought this wasn’t what you wanted. But then you come here and look at me like that, and it makes me so confused.” Joana’s voice was low, barely hearable under the music that played. But she felt too unsure to sound more emphatic. They had kissed before, and it had been everything. Soon after, she’d been told it wouldn’t happen again. So, of course, she was nervous by noticing the want in the other’s eyes, right there in the middle of the thunderstorm of emotions. “So, d’you even know what you want?”
deep down, aimee knew she was wrong for this. all because she felt confused herself, about her attraction and interest in joana beyond.. friendly intentions. something she formerly only really felt towards guys. too afraid to fully admit her attraction and the way she felt even to herself. “like what?” deep down she already knows, and so she couldn’t stand to look at the other, eyes cast downward instead. why did it have to be so complicated? aimee forced herself to look up again though, eyes unable to not glance over the other’s form yet again before reaching her eyes, “i know what i want now.. i think. but beyond that? no.” what she wants now is so overpowering, with aimee barely able to not step closer. instead she took a step away with a light blush creeping upon cheeks. “fuck, i’m sorry.. you don't deserve this.”
A smile settled onto Esme’s lips, a curious twinkle appearing in her eyes. Her heart began beating a little quicker. All were signals of her attraction to a pretty girl, and by god was the woman behind the bar someone to die for. In spite of the thoughts and instincts swirling inside her, Esme remained the consummate actress on the outside. To the proposition, she chuckled and shrugged. “Sure, I could go for a porn star. I’ve never had one mind…” she mused, her smile becoming more of a smirk as she quipped, “A real one or the drink, for what it’s worth…”

whilst reggi awaited the answer, she leaned herself forward and almost onto the bar top’s surface. “very good decision.” whilst her hands worked on making the drink, measuring on intuition rather than carefully measuring and looking, her eyes instead remained on the other woman. “admittedly, one surprises me more than the other.” a soft laugh followed as she finished making the drink by dropping a slice of passionfruit onto the foam. “but maybe this drink may blow your mind in a similar way that a good, real porn star would..-” with that, she sets the drink down in front of the other, her smirk ever growing “..- and because i happen to be quite a.. giver.. this one is on me.”

"if i could just steal you for a second—" it's not in alix's nature to be polite and she really isn't at all sure if the smile she offers their company is what one would consider polite but she doesn't leave much room for push back. a hand around their wrist and she's tugging them off to a secluded corner. "what the fuck?"
“yeah, of course.” aimee knew alix wouldn’t be pleased, but it’s not like she was flirting back. in fact, she didn’t exactly know how to talk her way out of it and thus endured it rather than participating in it. so the save was very much appreciated. “i wasn’t even flirting back, alix. i just.. didn’t know how to get away.” but then, realisation hit.. “wait, are you jealous?” she knew she shouldn’t be smirking, so a poor attempt at hiding it was made when aimee bit her lip whilst her eyes still clearly showed her amusement.

plot: your muse and dasom have been on a few dates, things are getting serious... and now dasom feels the need to tell them what she is, which is never easy.
"i... have something to tell you, and i'm gonna need you to promise me that you won't freak out or anything. i mean, i understand if you do but-- just know i'm being serious."
usually a laidback kind of person, adriana now couldn’t help but frown and feel somewhat suspicious at the way dasom spoke. what could be so big that she had to promise not to freak out? “yeah.. no. now i can’t promise i won’t freak out, but i can promise that i’ll listen. unless it’s like.. really bad.” she wouldn’t even know what she herself would class as really bad, but her mind was running wild with all sorts of ideas. “i’m not easily freaked out though.. try me.” a soft chuckle left her lips, attempting to lighten the mood at least a little bit.

Harper exhaled a thick cloud smoke into the night sky. She sat on her front stoop with a blanket draped around her shoulders. Her latest hook up was still in bed, Carla or Scarlet or something. It really didn’t matter considering she planned to kick the woman out of her bed come morning. One night, a distraction was all she needed. Frankly Harper hadn’t been well since the end of her situation with ex had ended. It was her fault of course, she said she didn’t want a relationship so the other left and Harper pretended not to care even though she knew it stung. Mindlessly she pulled out her phone and unlocked it.
[Text] I didn’t think you were serious about not coming back.
[Text] So what do you want me to do with your stuff?
it had taken alicia some time to fully grasp what she’s done, how she decided to stand firm and protect her own boundaries by walking away. she’d be lying if she said it was easy though. not when she still thought of her a lot and even found herself in bed with a blonde slightly resembling her now ex. and so, tonight she would go over to pick up her stuff and leave it all behind for good. heal. alicia was already jogging towards harper’s place when her phone notified her of harper’s messages, but she chose not to reply. not when she rounded the corner a minute later and saw the blonde, causing her stomach to twist and her heart to jump in a way she preferred it not to, especially when coming to a stop in front of her. “oh hey. i was jogging when i saw your messages. figured i’d come by immediately to pick up my stuff, it’s not that much anyways.” just a little out of breath, hand rushing dark locks. as if she hadn’t planned on going here the moment she left home. and yet, no matter the tough act she attempted to put on, alicia found herself closely observing the blonde. “are you alright?” she shouldn’t care, she shouldn’t ask and yet.. she would always hold a soft spot for her.
