This is how I feel about LOTR and The Hobbit/ Tolkein's universe. Why is The Hunt For Gollum a thing? I get that The Hobbit wasn't entirely canon, but THFG is something completely made up that they're trying to squeeze into the timeline. They need to stop milking it so much. I'm sure there is some lore that they're going to use, but other than limited information, it's just a money grab imo, and as much as I love Tolkien's universe, I will not be watching it. Lord of the Rings was great, but there will never be anything else like it. The Hobbit was good, not amazing like lotr, but they should have stopped there.

I thought PJ was done with these movies? Like he didn't even want to direct The Hobbit, he only directed it because getting permissions and shit like that took too long and the original director backed out? And now he wants to adapt yet another part of it into film with the Silmarillion? And lord knows that it's probably just going to be filled with CGI and AI atp, same with the hunt for gollum. Like I said, I think it'll just be another money grab, just like THFG.

one genre of fanfiction that seems to have mostly disappeared since i became an adult is shenanigans-type fics. like not exactly crack but just "the gang goes to 7-11" type, extremely low-stakes plot stories. the beach episodes of fanfiction. i just feel like i don't see those around so much anymore. whered they go. i miss them :(
