"Little brother" "Big brother" "Sister" LET CASSANDRA CAIN SAY THEIR NAMES. SHE CAN TALK, SHE CAN SAY TIM OR DICK OR DAMIAN OR WHATEVER!!! WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS??? Does she talk like this in New 52 or something??? Because I'll admit, I haven't read New 52 and Rebirth yet. Is that why??? Why do people write her like this? And then they'll have her call them their field names like "Nightwing", so she's clearly able to call them BY THEIR NAMES. And idk how to quite put it into words but a lot of the time it feels infantilising, but maybe that's a stretch

I called it a stretch because I was worried if I didn't have some kind of plausible deniability someone would call me too sensetive, or projecting, or straight up making shit up for the sake of it, but then I posted this and it humbled me as I realised that barely anyone is going to see this post, and even if someone does comment something rude I can just ignore them SO I'M TAKING IT BACK. I DON'T THINK IT'S A STRETCH AT ALL, I think DC fans saw an Asian woman with a disability that made it harder for her to advocate for herself and went "aww poor baby", infantilising her consciously and a lot of the times probably subconsciously because the stereotype for Asian woman is quiet and submissive, and the stereotype for someone with a disability is that they're dumb and need to be treated like children, because they're all actually mentally five years old, every single one of them, didn't you know? And I wish there was a way to fix something so deeply ingrained in society, because no matter how many times you call people out, they won't listen, it won't reach them, or they'll think it doesn't apply to them because "I'm anti-racist, I couldn't possibly have subconscious biases and ideas about other races born from the society I was born and raised in that I need to check" and I think that this fanfiction pet peeve of mine actually has to do with even bigger issues in the world, and I think that YES it is that deep. FUCK
