regressor! nat headcanons for @puppyscatorccio

he/him nat, baby regression, vent regression, big brother travis and van, mama lottie, some beach day thrown in, post-crash in the wilderness, not proofread

notes: hiii !! this is like ... my 3rd time writing headcanons so i hope these are ok !! it's also been a while so i'm a little rusty eek ... nonetheless, i hope you like it !!!!! also beach day bc it's summer break for me now hehehehehe (SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG)

☆ nat has been regressing for a long time as a trauma response, but it was only amplified after the crash. he spent a lot of days fighting off the scared, small feeling part of his brain because he needed to be strong like he always was.

☆ a lot of nights he spent wrapped up tight in blankets, quietly crying so the rest of the team wasn't alerted. travis found out about nat's regression first, up late at night for a similar reason to natalie. travis reassured nat that he wasn't alone, and from that night forward nat would try to be a little more open about his feelings.

☆ lottie found out from travis, and she couldn't help but dote on him ... nat hated it at first, and didn't like being vulnerable to anyone, especially not lottie. but after a while, nat was worn down by lottie's kindness and let her in. he's usually attached to her when he feels small now :3

☆ nat is a big stress regressor ... in stressful situations, he slowly shrinks further and further into regressing. he normally tries to fight it off to be brave and helpful, but it only works for so long u_u usually, lottie will notice and try to help nat regress. she wants her baby boy to get the comfort he needs !!!

☆ he can be somewhat mischievous !! if he's regressed a bit older especially ... he'll crawl out of bed a lot, trying to get some more time to play before someone (usually lottie, sometimes travis) catches him and tucks him back in ...

☆ to me, baby nat is very quiet ... however when he starts fussing or crying, it is hard to soothe after he's been upset. luckily, his big brothers, trav and van, are here to help !

☆ whenever nat is sad, travis and van swoop in to cheer him up !! this usually means silly faces and comforting words, but sometimes they'll act out stories to calm nat down !! travis as the brave knight and van doing a funny voice and pretending to be a damsel in distress (who usually ends up saving the knight from the dragon in the end) :33 after a while, nat will be all smiles again and clap his hands for the storytellers !!

☆ some days when everyone is free from their responsibilities, they take nat down to the lake to play !! travis and van take turns giving baby nat a piggyback ride the whole way there while lottie carries a bag of snacks ...

☆ at the beach, nat likes to sit in the shallowest parts of the water !! he smiles at the cold whenever a wave rolls in, splashing around a bit before the water pulls away ... every so often van will splash him a little, making him giggle and wipe the water across his face while lottie lightheartedly scolds van for splashing her baby :33

☆ after a long day, all baby nat wants is to be near his favorite people and feel safe ... he feels so small when he's tired, and any worry he has about being too clingy or seen as weak is replaced with the strong desire to be held close ...
