every time wlw bring up how mlm abuse and mistreat them the first response is consistently “well wlw treat gay men like a fetish when writing fanfics” as if a) that has nearly the same violent and oppressive impact b) as if wlw dont consistently go hard af calling out homophobia in online communities and c) as if it is a universal constant that all wlw see gay men as fanfic tools instead of a small subsection of gay girls entrenched in homophobic/abusive fandom spaces in comparison to the way all mlm oppress wlw on an institutional level

gay women consistently combat homophobia in our community. gay women consistently confront straight women who are on some fuck shit. gay women consistently try to educate young wlw on why treating men like ~hot yaoi~ is harmful and dangerous. gay women consistently are having these conversations and fights to uproot the bigotry in our spaces, but gay men aint doing the same.

like is it really too much to ask for to say “mlm need to stop being violent and abusive towards wlw” wo being met w condescending and derailing responses telling us shit we already know about homophobia that also leads to our abuse and mistreatment???
