I love hymns

I love hymns, the poetic lyrics, the harmony, the acoustics, the passion in the music. But when I was listening to hymns today I wept. Not out of an appreciation for the music but the tears of a weary soul. I wept for the girl who listened to these in her younger years who always wondered why she was never enough. I wept for the girl who never planned a future for herself.

I then listened to my "hippy music", my hozier, my lumineers, my gregory alan isakov, my colter wall, my ryan bingham. These songs with the same poetic lyrics, soothing melodies and harmonies, passion and love from the artist. A part of me healed. My hymns for the sinner who wept at the hollow words of "Come as you are".
