Today, October 22nd USA Burger Kings debuted this year’s Halloween burger, the Nightmare King. It is a green burger which contains no vegetables. It has a beef patty, fried chicken patty, 4x bacon, 3x cheese, onion rings and mayonnaise. All that protein is supposed to induce nightmares, hence the name.

First impressions were average; what you can expect from a typical Burger King. However, the green bun is definitely not something you ever hope to see in food. It more closely resembles moldy bread than a green witch potion bun which one would assume is what they are going for.

However, this burger tasted surprisingly good. Both the beef and chicken were soft and complimented each other in an umami-like flavor. Neither flavor dominated nor was drowned out. However, this is something that probably could only be accomplished with highly processed meat. Perhaps it would be too difficult to replicate with fresh ingredients. On the other hand, bacon can be hard, especially cheap bacon. This had about 12 strips of bacon. That was definitely an overwhelming sensation.

In conclusion, it doesn’t have an appetizing presentation but it is very well balanced and a satisfying meal. Overall 9/10
