I know Mike gets a lot of hate and while I adore that idiot (affectionate), and don’t think he deserves the relentless vitriol, I will never forgive him for saying this to El, right in front of Will. I wish we had a scene in the show where this was addressed, and one of my favorite moments to read in Byler fics is when he is finally called out for it.

This one is from Faultlines by LeighJ (one of the best newly completed fics I’ve read) and the one below is from A Book in Memory by lunareverafter (I highly recommend reading it as well).

Summary:

“’Morning,” Mike grumbled, voice low from sleep.

“Noon,” Max corrected, as if she hadn’t only woken up thirty minutes before him.

“Wow,” he replied, squinting at the light. “Nobody thought to wake me?”

It happened casually after that, so casually it almost didn’t register at first. El laughed at something Lucas said, then turned toward Mike and leaned in, instinctively, easily, pressing a kiss to his lips like it was the most logical way to say good morning to him.

or: Mike and Will have been together for a year and a half when El comes back. The problem is, El assumes she and Mike are still together. The bigger problem is that Mike doesn’t realize Will thinks he might choose her.

aka holly's missing, and her friends are determined to find her and bring her home. one person in her friend group in particular is more passionate than the others about finding her, and soon mike finds out why that is. and why he felt so different about will to his other friends when he was a kid. (set after the mike clip from the recent teaser)
