When I was 13, my mom got a new credit card from the bank (back then when they still made you sign the receipt and it had to match the signature on the card) she sat me down and made me practice writing her signature until I got it as close as possible, then SHE practiced making it more loose like mine and that's the signature that went on the card. Then she handed me the card and a grocery shopping list and basically never demanded it back.

This woman hates shopping so much she literally handed me an entire adult credit card at 13 and said 'It's your job to make sure we eat now'. The kicker is I thought it the most profound responsibility of my life and was actually so responsible with that card even grandma agreed it was better I had it because that way mom couldn't buy stupid shit with it.

Now that I typed it out I think I see where some of my issues stem from.
