âSometimes, I think itâs too green on Krakoa.â
The words were spoken more to the night sky than the body that was positioned across from her. Lana had grown up inside, and when she went out the jungle was made of concrete. All the fresh air and wide open space made her feel smaller than the city ever had. When Lana turned her head, her face was confronted with the sight of a glowing eye and familiar face. With her back on the ground and hair cushioning her head, the quiet was deafening.
âSo, space, huh? The stars are pretty @#$@# cool from down here. What are they like up there? Also â donât even attempt to get a big head because you have some fancy space job.â
The clearing they were in wasnât large - with a thick underbrush and a mixed array of flowers and weeds that heâd been toying with in comfortable silence. They were just at the edge so Lana could recline back freely and stare into the open sky while Nate perched against a tree, his long legs outstretched before him, his calves brushing against hers. Heâd been pulling the petals from something reminiscent of a daisy when Lana broke his languid thoughts and he rose his gaze up the soft curves of her body, taking his time as she spoke. Before he reached her face her words prompted him to look up at the peppered night sky and a faint smile shadowed his lips. âOddly enough -- just the same. Tiny and out of reach.â he abandoned the flower, nothing left but the stem, and plucked another from the ground. Next to him, at least a dozen or more bare stems laid in a pile amongst the strewn petals. âThe fancy space job came because of the big head, Baumgartner. Itâs a skill.âÂ
