the erasure of the rape element in mythological retellings is so heinous it borders on misogyny
it’s the idea that because rape as an act is misogyny, that talking about rape or including it in stories is also misogyny. as if acknowledging that women were denied agency and dignity somehow further denies us agency and dignity. when really, acknowledging the ways women were/are denied agency and dignity affirms that we are entitled to these things. a feminist story isn’t just a story in which no bad things happen to women. bad things do happen to women. pretending they don’t, and especially trying to superimpose that conviction onto the past, just because it isn’t as fun to dwell on, is not a feminist position.
vampires are so full of shit. "oh the human race is beneath us, you're just livestock to us" I don't think you know what livestock is. do you feed us? care for us? protect us from predators? no. you just slink around dark alleys and ambush people. that's not what a higher being does. that's a bottom feeder. a parasite. karate punches your head off

"I don’t know with certainty what’s happening in these facilities. I know what the infrastructure looks like. I know what the incentives are. I know what history tells us happens when you combine captive populations with ambitious medical research and deliberately removed oversight."
I’m starting a new series today, and I wish I didn’t have to.
Parts 2 through 4 cover the history of Neuralink
“He’d operated on an almost permanent adrenaline high, a byproduct of youth and proficiency, jacked into a custom cyberspace deck that proje
In Part 2, we left off with Benjamin Rapoport and other co-founders walking away from Neuralink, citing vague concerns about safety.
I’ve been staring at a GoFundMe page for 6 days now, and I can’t stop thinking about the word “storybook.”
We need members of Congress to ask why DOD neurological surgery contracts are flowing through shell companies to civilian hospitals. We need the remaining FDA staff to explain what oversight exists for experimental procedures at military facilities. Because right now, all we have is infrastructure that looks purpose-built for something we’d rather not name. All we have are patterns that keep appearing in different cities but with the same components. All we have are gaps in documentation where accountability should be. And we have Elon Musk’s announced timeline: from 7 brain implants to 1,000 in fifteen months. Sixty patients per month. In a technology that’s experimental, risky, and requires extensive informed consent. Unless it doesn’t.
You know what’s astonishing about Katara? She grew up in a world without bending.
It’s not surprising that Sokka calls her bending ‘magic water’ in the first episode. It might as well have been magic to them at that point; they had never seen it in practice until they meet Aang.
So not only did Katara not have any teachers, she didn’t have any kind of guidance, no visual aids, no idea of how bending is supposed to look or work. The first time she ever sees actual waterbending movements is when she steals the waterbending scroll from the pirates. The first time she meets another waterbender is when she reaches the North Pole, where within weeks she outmasters pretty much everyone and goes on to teach the Avatar.
Everything she does is so incredibly impressive, and yet I can’t help but feel the most proud of her when she catches a fish on that little boat.

I love when platonic love and romantic love is so blurred that it doesn’t even matter anymore. All that matters is the devotion that’s there, the unwavering devotion

" "I booked a front row seat to the devil's sacrament and you're blocking the view" is one banger of a thematic statement. Shirt material.
