I finally finished editing my "nature documentary" that was basically, "What if Steve Irwin attended a furry convention?"
And this is the result

Me, after watching my partner open a photo on her phone, click "edit" and using the "magic eraser" tool to erase a stranger in the background of a group photo: "Wow, Leon Trotsky doesn't stand a chance"
Biblically accurate bisexual
Absolutely fantastic getup! This guy was at Boston Pride!
Crack fic idea: a character develops a crush on their "shoulder angel" and does increasingly reckless things to get the shoulder angel to keep appearing
It is particularly gross that Google systematically downgrades Wikipedia links while forcing ai slop to the top, mostly congealed from data scraped from Wikipedia
Yiff is the best part of the furry fandom even if you are only into SFW art and have no personal interest in it. I'm not even joking, hear me out: The most magical part of the furry fandom to me is its grassroots communal nature. The porn is a major factor in what keeps big corporations away from even the largest conventions-- they will not touch us with a ten-foot pole. Yiff artists are the gunshots that keep the rent low.
Yiff is what keeps the fandom queer and free and out from under the control of multinational corporations. Yiff gives us freedom.
The waters are rising and all we can do is build a raft and try to fit as many people as we can.
Throwback to college where my dad, of all people, was lamenting men referring to women as "females". (At the time I didn't grasp the nuanced difference between using male/female as adjectives vs the sterile clinicality of using them as nouns) And he lamented that, unlike Woman, Female is "not a term of endearment"
And I told him that I have many female friends, and my two of my closest friends in particular hate being called women and would much rather be called female. Like, god help you if you call them women to their face. So therefore it is better to call people females than women.
So, uh, those two friends later came out as trans. I was working with very incomplete information
There are times I lock myself out with my dog and ring the doorbell and he will start barking. "DAAAAAD!!!SOMEONE IS AT THE DOOR!!!"
Yes I know. It's us.
I'm 25 years late to this but how I would fix midochloreans:
Instead of them being the _source_ of The Force, make it a bacteria that only grows well in the presence of The Force. Like some sort of commensalism between the bacteria and the force user.
That way, it can be used as an indicator _and_ hint at some extra lore about the nature of the force. Like those bacteria at Chernobyl that evolved to grow on radioactive material and consume some of the radiation.
Qi Gon could have gone "I feel it, the force is strong with this kid" and then just get a check to be like "holy shit I was right"
Maybe even make it a bacterial strain that out competes other strains but only at high levels of force usage, so they are only found in large quantities on master Jedi
The force is in all living things, so there's probably a baseline level of them on everyone
Could be a skin swab in that case, with interesting potential for Jedi forensic technology
Instead of "answering" the question of where does the force come from, it's asking the question: what _else_ can the force do?
"his midichlorian-C2 levels are extremely high"
"That's impossible, he would have to be a _master_ for that to happen"
"...we ran three different samples, and then got a second lab to get their own samples because we thought our test strips or equipment were faulty. Then a third. They all say the same thing"
I am so sorry for this one
I was nerding out with a friend about the CL-415 (AKA, the Super Scooper water bomber, one of the most impressive aircraft ever produced) and we got on the topic of how if someone were to make an aeromorph fursona of it, it would be uniquely positioned to indulge watersports fantasies.
Throwback to high-school in 2008, when furry culture was much less known and much more stigmatized.
A friend of mine loaned me his USB stick filled to the brim with furry porn. We were hanging out in the public library, in the children's section where the best couches were. While I was walking home, I noticed that my pocket was empty and BOLTED back to the library, heart in my throat, and frantically looked under the couch for it. To my horror, I couldn't find it. Then a kid a couple of years younger than me said, "oh hey, are you looking for this?"
Yes. Yes, I was. I told him it had an essay on it that I spent a week working on, thanked him, and left.
We need blooper reels in porn. I'm not even joking-- one of the best additions I've seen to porn was a blooper reel at the end of a particularly hardcore bdsm scene back in the earlier days of the internet. It is simultaneously humanizing and reassuring to watch someone who is getting fucked every which way to mess up a line and suddenly break character and laugh.
its 2026 i cannot handle any more fucking "author A obviously ripped off author B" discourse by people Who Have Only Seen the work of author B and admit themselves that they have no further knowledge of the literary landscape they are moving in. like.
Folks really need to reacquaint themselves with this concept
I have needed this term in my life. Maybe what I love is analysing the scene a faire of my silly little genre trash.
Especially cuz for isekai it tends to be right at the start.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
I was expecting this to be a concept most relevant to literary critique. I didn't expect it to be a concept written into **fucking law**
It's primarily a legal term and the "examples" section goes into detail about a court case that determines that declared that there are aspects of movie about in the south Bronx are required to make the genre work that they cannot be copyrighted.
I finally watched Knights of Guinevere. Oh my goodness it is ART

I sometimes find myself wishing that the world behaves in the way that my paleolithic brain thinks it does.
