Sitting here watching the delivery tracker app as the little icon of the car very slowly increases in width while remaining in the same spot knowing it's just a glitch of some kind, but, like, imagine.
Peering sourly at my phone like "ah shit, they sent the Wide Car again".
I love when it decides to correct a desync between the app and the location, so it just shows the car doing a blues brothers through several culdesacs and a lake.
Was about to fall asleep and apropos of nothing was struck out of nowhere by a horrible future vision of a brightly-lit and saccharine 3D-AI Calvin and Hobbes movie with Scarlet Johanssen voicing the mom and Chris Pratt voicing Hobbes and experienced an emotional haptic jerk so chilling I feel like I just foresaw my own death

this is what I mean about how right now in the united states (won't speak for elsewhere but feel free to lmk in the notes if you'd like) a lot of us trans adults who are able to access transition care can only do so at the direct expense of trans minors. this clinic would not have opened if they held the line and offered equal access to healthcare to trans minors.

Digital de-aging is bad not just because it always looks creepy as fuck no matter how much money they pour into it, but because it deprives me of getting to see the fucking black magic of a) the casting director somehow finding someone who looks unnervingly like the original actor despite not being related at all and b) the actors completely convincing me that they are, in fact, the same person at different times in their life.
And occasionally, the amusement of sticking a bad wig and some makeup on the original actor and just demanding we accept they're a teenager now.
Well out of the blue I just remembered today the time I accidentally joined the cast of a production of The Princess Brideā¦.in the middle of the production.

Okay, so this is what happened,
Some years ago (6? 7 years ago, I think?) there was a pirate exhibit at the state museum. We had actual artifacts from the Queen Anneās Revenge, creepy wax dummies, historical costumes etc, it was awesome.
I was really into Pirates of the CaribbeanĀ at the time, because I played the mmorpg with some high school friends of mine (and some of their parents sometimes, who also got addicted to it), so of course when they announcedĀ āPirate Night at the Museumā, in which visitors were encouraged to dress up, I was over the moon. So Iām there with my friends, my parents, and my sisters, running around the exhibits after the museum is technically closed.
They replaced the creepy wax dummies with people in costume at this point, and it was pretty epic.
The highlight of the night would be a showing of The Princess Bride. The movie would play on the big screen while actors would be on a stage below, acting the whole thing out word for word and shot for shot as it happened. Any audience members who knew lines were encouraged to shout them out as they heard them.
Hereās the thing. My parents love that movie. Like you donāt understand they were quoting it to us in its entirety when we were still in highchairs. I could reenact the battle of wits scene before I ever actually watched it. So my family sits in the front row, behind the railing, quoting everything right along with the actors and film.
And then comes the part in the Pit of Despair with the Albino. And the cast didnāt have anyone on the stage with Wesley.Ā I donāt know if the Albino couldnāt make it that night, or if theyād never cast him, but it was really weird to see Wesley just lying on the stage awkwardly while the Albino is supposed to be treating his injuries.
I started twitching. My mom and sister look at me and theyāre likeĀ ādo it.ā And one of the ushers is likeĀ āyou know the part? do itā
So I launch over the railing, run up onto the stage, and take over from there, doing my best impression of the character. Being that I was a 5ā²2ā³ blonde girl in a corset and puffy sleeves, Wesley had some trouble keeping a straight face.
Then they got to the scene with Humperdink telling the guard to clear out the Thievesā Forest, andā¦they didnāt have the guard either. So my twin sister up in the audience is likeĀ āhang on, I got thisā and then she launches over the railing to make sure Humperdink isnāt just sitting awkwardly talking to thin air.
This meant that yes, I got bopped on the noggin by Fezzik, and yes, my sister got to do the āGive us the key.ā āWhat key?ā āFezzik, tear his arms off.ā āOh, you mean this key!āĀ
They made up stay on stage and take a bow with the cast when it was over, it was hilarious. Then the next year, since they still had the exhibit, the museum called my sister and was like,Ā āSoā¦.that was super fun last year. Do you and your sister want to be audience plants and do it again this year?ā
The answer, naturally, was heck yes.Ā Since we had new volunteers playing Count Rugen and Inigo this time, this also led to my sister actually choreographing their fight scene herself. Which was awesome.
My favorite part is that this is entirely in tone Ā for Princess Bride. Ā
(ą²„ _ ą²„) the guild forced me to solo hunt the mythical monster threatening the village because they didn't like my "turn 30% of the palico reserves into palico pocket pussy service toys" proposal
Even though I got approval from the felyne union!!! The entire proposal is covered in pawprint signatures from the entire felyne workforce!!!!
The monster hunter guild is holding us back from meaningful progress ļ¼ļøæļ¼
when it comes to being horny about pokemon I fall into the "pocket pussy" archetype of enjoyer generally (though not exclusively lol).
I love me a lopunny 100%, and can appreciate dorito spike chest for others to enjoy even if that's not really my vibe, but very much a "what if my little pet monster was my bestie and also my fucktoy" trainer.
Pikachu, Mew, Raichu, Zorua, Eevee(lutions), Vulpix(cold or hot), Nickit, that fire fox from pal, like little foxes, Palicos, vaguely furry buddy types and the like are wonderful little friends (with benefits). Some of the more traditional "That's just a full on furry" pokemon are cute as hell too but just saying it how it is. I do really enjoy those too actually lol
Anyways not sure what brought that up.
I will continue in saying I think my favorite part of that whole fantasy is the "adventuring buddies that find additional layers to their relationship over time" which is funny because that's like. Not isolated to pokemon lol
But I grew up playing pokemon, so then I think "What if we adventured for ages and things lead to horny nonsense, that's so sweet <3" and then I point at this imaginary pokemon and go "THAT'S MY BEST FRIEND *AND* FUCKTOY!" and it's such a happy little thought.
