February productivity challenge
Day 3: What's your nighttime routine like?
i try to sleep before 1-2 am, wash my face, wrap my hair, get in bed, pop on some asmr then zonk out.
Day 4: What would you describe your study method as?
😅 i cram a lot- is that a study method? But when i study properly i do a combination of these: flashcards, blurting and talking out loud as if i'm teaching the topic to someone else.

the winter semester is in full swing now! here are some physics lecture notes. i’m hoping to get my sh*t together this semester and put in the work that i should have last time.
Thinking about that day another park ranger and I discovered that
1. we both used the same shampoo and
2. Suave Essentials Tropical Coconut drives honeybees absolutely bugfuck wild
3. He's allergic to bees
It’s likely the scent! Banana scent (Isoamyl acetate) is the same scent as the aggression pheromone bees put out when they’re angry. Never eat bananas near bees! Always check your lotion, sunscreen, etc bottles for banana scent or isoamyl acetate before going near bees
So you're telling me that when bees get mad they start violently smelling like bananas?
Can confirm! In (hopefully) very rare cases, a large hive full of pissed off bees smells a lot like bananas! Usually there’s not nearly enough of them for humans to be able to smell it, though.
@cyber-flow thank you for the funniest tags I've seen all day.

I'm back in Brussels after spending most of my winter break in Cologne. I already miss my friends but I am not as sad I expected myself to be. I have lots of deadlines and exams in the next three weeks and I'm a bit stressed but I'm feeling better than before I left for the holidays. Like I am actually able to do this and study. I probably have to pull an all-nighter to finish the essay I'm currently working on but I'm motivated (and that my friends is a miracle). Let's see what I'm capable of after being in a mild depression for the last months.

Academic Tip: Thank Your Professors
This is the time of year (after grades are in, during the semester break) when I send thank you emails to each of the professors that I had a class with.
Whether adjunct, fixed term, or tenured, they work very hard teaching classes, often without a lot of thanks. Sending a short email letting them know that you enjoyed their class can go a long way, and it's a good step to forming a relationship with a possible mentor.
I know that writing emails can be tricky, so here's a basic template to get you started:
Dear Dr. Lastname,
I was in your [insert name of class] this semester, and I wanted to reach out to thank you for this semester and for the effort you put into the class. I really appreciated how you worked to [something you liked about the class], and I really enjoyed learning from you.
All the best,
[Your firstname lastname]
